Reviews for Nico Osteria in Chicago, IL
We stayed at the Thompson Hotel. Went down for breakfast around 9am on Saturday and was told that there was 20 minutes wait. I... pointed out all the empty tables and even tried to sit at the bar but apparently they are very short staffed. It was exactly 20minutes wait time. We knew exactly what we were going to order because we looked at the menu during the wait so as soon as theserver came, we ordered. It was a little over 30 minutes for the food to come out. We ordered Yellow tomato conchiglie, braisedshort rib, pan seared scallop, angel hair & meatballs and steak & eggs! My favorite was the yellow tomato conchiglie, we addedextra shrimp. The braised short rib was good and fatty. Everything else was not bad, just basic. Read more
I am so glad that I went on a whim to see if they would accept walk-ins because it was sad to see that it was fully booked or... unavailable online whenever I try to see if they were available at 8:30 p.m. We had Julia who was such an incredible server. Ifyou are going to go here you need to ask for her because she knew the menu so up and down. She had amazing service and she wentthe absolute distance with recommendations as well as getting information from the chef for me. I highly highly recommend theboar, and that's being from Texas. I've never had it prepared so rare and soft and incredible. And while I do believe that theirwine menu needs some help with some actual wines not using additives, I think that everything else, including the ambiance, wasjust awesome. Definitely going to come back here again if I'm ever in Chicago again. Read more

I was hesitant to eat here because it's connected to the hotel and in my experience traveling, most hotel restaurants are... mediocre at best but this place exceeded my expectations. Overall great experience and amazing food. We came on a Friday andthey had live music. Enjoyed a couple mocktails that were fantastic and a phenomenal drink called "before I go" which wascreated by one of their bartenders. We had oysters, scallops, the Brussel sprout bruschetta, mussels, dumplings and the porkentree. Service was excellent- can't wait to go back. Read more
Creative drink menu, thoughtfully crafted with something for everyone. Every bite of food was perfectly balanced, from a burrata... appetizer to the entrees (gyro seasoned salmon and the classiest smash burger ever) to the black forest for dessert, whichliterally exploded with flavors. And phenomenal service at every stage of our meal. Perfect for a celebration or just a carefreeevening with a friend. Read more

Great food! We ordered an appetizer, second course, and dessert. I highly recommend the mushroom ragu and the chocolate/lemon... cake dessert. Both were incredible. Overall, the restaurant was not very busy, which made for a bit of a strange atmosphere, butled to great service. Read more
The menu is quite small and that usually mean the food is really good. That was the case here. The coffee has a great flavor as... well. Read more
