If you are vegan or vegetarian and haven't had a sandwich from this place, you need to drop everything you're doing and go get... yourself one right now. Even if you've had their sandwiches a million times, you should run to uptown asap to get yourself abanh mi chay. These are the single best banh mi chays in the city. Every option is delicious, but the banh mi xa xiu chay inparticular is a game changer. Ba Le wishes they were half as good. Read more

I used to go to the original location on Lawrence weekly and then when they opened a second location on Belmont, I went there... instead. They introduced pho at that location and it was phenomenal. Then they shut that one down and moved to Uptown so i wasthere even more frequently. I do love their sandwiches and I used to get the rice lunch box until they had that fire. The 2 bbqitems with rice was so delicious and cheap. On weekends , they make this dish called banh bot chien (fried rice cakes) and it isdelicious. However, the price is outrageous now. They raised their prices several times, even from 2 months ago. Read more

I read up on Nhu Lan after researching must-try Vietnamese restaurants on the famous Argyle Street in Uptown, and immediately... wanted to try their Banh Mi. After a few weeks of anticipation, I got the chance to try one, and it was worth the wait! When Ifirst arrived, a huge menu on the windows of the bakery grabbed my attention. Before walking in, I browsed it and chose what Iwanted, a lemongrass chicken Banh Mi, as I had seen others recommend it. I walked in, and the space was small, with one registerand a small area on the side for refrigerated desserts and other goods. There was already a group of about six people waiting orplacing their order (about the max occupancy without feeling uncomfortable), and got the feeling I was in for a treat. Afterplacing my order, I waited a quick 5 minutes for my sandwich. The sandwich was larger than I expected, never a bad thing. OnceI opened it, the different smells of chicken, pickled vegetables, and cilantro hit my nose. It was quite fragrant! The baguettewas soft and warm to the touch, bouncing lightly back to shape when I pressed it down. After getting taken aback a second by theappetizing aromas and feel of the bread, I took my first bite. The bread was as airy as it felt in my hand, with the snap of thepeppers adding more texture. The chicken tasted zesty, sweet, and had a hint of spice. Combined with the flavors of the freshand pickled vegetables, it made for a perfect summertime lunch! The one negative was the chicken felt a bit dry, though thedelicious marinade helped cover that up. All in all, my first Banh Mi from Nhu Lan will not be my last. I cannot wait to goback and try some of their other sandwiches soon, and I may also toss in a dessert, as those looked yummy when I glanced attheir refrigerated section. They made a returning customer out of me! Read more

My type of comfort food is banh mi. Nh? Lan has so many options you can choose from. My favorite or go-to is the special (#1).... My tip for you is to get the veggies toppings separately so that you can save your banh mi for later or another day. I also liketo give a good squeeze or press to the banh mi before opening the wrapper (I?m not a big fan of the crust so this helps breakingthem up). I like mine a little softer. Nh? Lan also offers a lot of desserts, drinks, and BBQ items (like roasted duck, chicken, crispy pork, bbq pork). Everyone is very nice here so that?s a plus. Definitely recommend Nh? Lan if you haven?t had banh mibefore. Read more

A go to place for Viet desserts, banh mi, and roasted meats. I often get the freshly baked bread or roast duck or pork by the... pound , it?s amazing. Can get busy, long waits, and there is only a small waiting area so maybe call or order ahead. Read more

I love this place! First of all, the workers were SO kind and sweet! Second, food and beverages are super delicious! Also, the... place was really clean. But, the reason I gave it a four-star is because the price is a little too much. But other than that, delicious. I recommend this to anyone. Read more
