Reviews for Minahasa in Chicago, IL
We were really disappointed by the quality of the food and the lack of flavor. The restaurant and presentation are beautiful,... and the staff is welcoming. The food, however, is what we really come for. The tomato sauce was far too thick and overpoweredthe dish. The fish was also covered in tomatoes and quite bland. The redeeming items were the fried shrimp and jasmine tea. Weleft feeling unsatisfied by how one-dimensional the food was. Read more

After 5 months living in Florida without having any Indonesian food, not even one pack of Indomie at all ????, the wait has... finally over lol. I took my friend to try the no 1 best food in the world according to CNN traveler, Beef Rendang (beef currystew cooked in spices and coconut milk)! She loves it! We came to Minahasa restaurant (at Revival Food Hall, what a name) 5minutes before the restaurant closed for lunch, but after explaining that we came from afar, chef John was very flexible and hecooked for us. Food was yummy, service was excellent and we got free cookies and kopiko (Indonesian coffee candy). I am givingminahasachicago 5* for food taste, food presentation, service, ambiance and its location (in the middle of the city). Read more
Interesting decoration in this little store inside the revival hall. I initially had pretty high expectations for it, but the... food turned out to be just okay. Would expect a bit more variety than just the beef in the lunch box (e.g., side dishes, veggie). Hope it can continue improving and introducing Indonesian food to Chicago! Read more
