Great place. Good atmosphere. Old skool with very nice owners. Classic neighborhood place. I'd rather eat here than Au Cheval... next door Read more

Great design like back to 50’s when I was a kid, and with the nice friendly lady like my grandma. Feel warm at home.

We had such a great breakfast here! We had a large group (of eight) and were seated and served in a very timely manner. The food... was excellent as was the service. The friendliness of the servers was so wonderful. I can't wait to go back! Read more

Food is decent, we had scrambled eggs and a Denver omelette that came out just a tad overdone. Be prepared for long wait times... for not just receiving your order but for simply being acknowledged. We walked in around noon on a Sat and were told to takewhichever table we wanted. We then sat there for at least 15 minutes before one of the two servers finally gave us menus andwater. You could tell they were hustling due to being understaffed but still felt weird we never got a “be right with you.”The servers had time to bus a handful of tables, refill other guests’ coffees, and returned at least a dozen menus before wewere acknowledged. No apology or comment about the wait either. Wasn’t just us, at least two other groups sat down, waited, and finally gave up and left during the time we were there. Someone finally went to place a takeout order instead while theserver warned, “Its not going to be any shorter of a wait, honey.” We had put an hour and a half on the parking meter andended up needing to add another half hour by the time our food finally came out. Again you could tell they were hustling but itfelt strange given the brunch rush was mostly over and the place is not that big to begin with. Just a friendly fyi, it’ssolid diner food but be prepared to wait for seemingly no reason. Read more

I came in around 7:25 and was seated for breakfast. It has a great location and reasonable prices. The food was very tasty and I... see why it was recommended by a friend. However, I did not receive my food until 30 minutes later. There were only 6 tablescurrently eating. The server was very friendly, so it is not her fault. I noticed other tables were waiting very long for food,as well. I am thankful I did not have anywhere to be right after eating. That being said, the food was very delicious and thefruit was fresh. I will be back when I am not in a rush, or may call ahead. Read more

Sometimes you simply want a great omlette, skillet, or classic breakfast. This place is around the corner from the "hip and new"... places on Randolph st. but will have no line, lovely service, and a homey diner atmosphere. If you are in the mood for aclassic breakfast fresh made however you like, go to Johnnies Snack Shop. Read more

This breakfast diner was beyond exceptional. No amount of stars can express how much I enjoyed my experience here. First of all,... Patty, whom I thought was the owner based on her being so welcoming and friendly, made my experience even more memorable! Thefood and coffee was fantastic! The prices are unbeatable! The atmosphere was cozy and interesting as well (it has numerousvintage photographs on the walls). Chicago was my first stop on a two week trip and it was my first time being in Illinois. Assomeone that didn’t know the area, I simply looked up breakfast places after waking up from my one night stay and winged it.Exceeded my expectations. I even wished I had cash on me because everyone that works there deserves a tip! I will be backwhenever I get the chance to be in Chicago again. Thanks, Johnnie’s! Read more
