Reviews for JJ Thai Street Food in Chicago, IL
Delicious. After living in South East Asia for 11 years, this was such a treat. My dining buddy was in charge of ordering. They... picked the American versions of dishes (aka chicken). I prefer pork or beef to chicken. Still good... but go with the tastierprotein ???? Meatballs melted in your mouth. Sliced ginger was a tasty compliment. Papaya salad was authentic with fish oil.Other places swap for vinegar so this hit the spot. The Thai iced tea seemed to last forever (very generous glass). The mincedchicken basil with fried egg over rice was good. For this dish, I prefer pork so will be back!! We also had sliced pork overrice. Eggs were fried to perfection. The best part was the steamed coconut dessert. Next time, I'm going to try the soups andcurry. Service was awesome, too. They had a steady flow. Individual diners were given just as much care as a family of 4. Read more
Straight out of wok means tasty^2 Their ingredients and sauces are just normal, but that huge kitchen fan and multiple woks... being worked by chefs brings a strong guarantee of wok hei. That is the essence of Asian street food in my opinion. Nomicrowaved half-ready plates, just the magic of wok and fire. Indulge your stomach here. Edit: grilled squid is very chewy! Androast chicken in my opinion is the best Asian style roast chicken I have ever had in the pas year! Read more
When I say this, you have to trust me. The basil tofu over ginger rice that I ordered is the very best thing I have ever put in... my mouth. I am not exaggerating, it is the best. I biked a couple miles to get there, and did the same the very next day becauseit was so good. During the meal my face was glued with a smile, the food changed me. I ordered the thai iced coffee and the thaiiced tea, both were delicious. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly and very hard working, they create an environment thatis warm and pleasant. I am from out of town, so I sadly cannot eat here anytime soon, but I can ensure that next time I am giventhe opportunity I will go back. The chefs know what they are doing, and it shows. I am forever grateful to the staff. Picturedis the basil tofu over ginger rice and the pan fried chive dumplings. If I were to die with this meal in my stomach, I would diethe happiest person on earth. Thank you JJ Thai Street Food. Love, Joshua Read more
I simply cannot understand bad reviews for this place. I try to visit all the Thai restaurants in the city and by far, this has... been my favorite! Food is amazing, fresh, not oily at all (difficult to achieve), and also not very expensive. Everyone workingthere is Thai, which means that you will only get authenticity!!! I went with some friends on Saturday and came back again todaybecause I really liked it. We ordered beef salad, fried chicken over ginger rice, and crab fried rice (crab was insanelyamazing!), plus Thai coffee and Thai tea. Everything great, and staff is very nice and also willing to help you decide if youare not sure what to get. Just please, BE AWARE that good food means that there is preparation time, so do not expect to haveyour fried rice done in 3 minutes, food takes a while but it is absolutely worth the wait. I will be back soon and will probablybecome a regular! Read more

This place is small inside but very friendly and the food is authentic and reasonably priced. I had black sticky rice with fried... chicken (SP3). The chicken was really great and super crunchy and not greasy. The Thai iced tea is worth a try. A little sweetand can look a funny orangish color when mixed. The shrimp rolls were cool, long and thin with a little handle being the tail!! Read more
I lived and worked in Bangkok for a month few years ago. I love Thai food so much and I am glad the food in this place is almost... 80% authentic. I ordered the most common dishes in Thailand. These are the cheapest food you could find in Thailand. But theyare very very pricy in Chicago. Read more
