Not the same. I grew up eating this style of food. I think the problem is that this place doesn't do the volume necessary to... make this type of food good. The only way this style works is if it's fresh off the grill and things are constantly being cookedwith a line out the door. They pre-cook all the stuff and just let it sit there under a heat lamp because this location is notbusy. Unfortunately, it ruins the food. I won't be back and I bet this business closes its doors within a year. I don'tunderstand why they went all fancy on this spot when the food isn't meant to be that way. Honestly, if someone opened up aliteral shack across the street and sold this exact food fresh and cheap it would probably be a success. Jim's and MaxwellStreet Depot in other locations works because that's exactly what they are only Jim's is more expensive because of the location.I really wanted this place to be good. Might also just be in the wrong neighborhood to do well too, this is working people'sfood, not Chad in a 800k condo food. It's kinda like how the yuppies always want to go to a dive bar, but you can't have a realdive bar and expect them to like it. Maybe add a tofu sausage or something for this crowd. Read more

I understand why their parking lot is empty all the time. They don't have pickles or tomato even though they serve standard hot... dog and hamburger food. They're fountain drink wasn't working and they only have canned soda in weird flavors. The hot dog wastasteless, not the normal Vienna beef. The only thing good were the fries. Read more

This is a no frills greasy grill joint. They have a limited menu but what they do have is great. They will take condiments off... but will not substitute which is fine in my eyes. The quality of ingredients is top quality and the prices are cheap. This is agreat spot for a good quality quarter pounder burger. We'll definitely be trying the bone in pork chop sandwich next time. Theyalso have a drive-thru! Read more

From it's gritty origins as a stand at Maxwell Street to this state of the art fast food express restaurant; the famous Jim's... Original Maxwell Street Polish has made it's way to my neighborhood. I found it a little pricier than the location now on UnionStreet and the sausage didn't seem as oversized for the bun. That said, biting into it took me back to a time when I sat on acurb eating a Polish and listening to the Blues. I found the fries tasting slightly better than I remember. Given a choice Istill prefer going to Union Street, but seeing the investment they made here, the tribute to Jim, the large pile of onions onthe grill make me happy and excited. I hope they do well and will do my part to fulfill my Maxwell Street Polish fix here when Ican. Read more

I tried the hot dog & cheeseburger. I don?t love their base toppings (mustard & grilled onions) but fries come with the entree &... they have ketchup packets if you prefer that. I was the only car in line on a weekend night & got helped very quickly. Nocustomer service issues! The buns were both a bit dry/stale like other reviews, but it didn?t ruin the meat, of course. Not myfavorite hot dog, but that?s personal preference. Cheeseburger & fries were good! Great prices for including fries, too! Cheesesauce was pretty standard IMO Read more

Love this new spot! The staff has been friendly and professional every time I've been here. They always speak when you come... through the door and when you leave. They even greet you while sitting outside! Love this type of customer service. I food isjust like it's supposed to be, delicious! My only suggestion is to not pre wrap the peppers because the last time I got drypeppers. The pepper juice is what makes any sandwich??????? other than that, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I've been waiting for thisspot to open and they did not disappoint???????? Read more

I've been going to the Jim's on union for years. With tremendous excitement, I went for a quick afternoon lunch since this... location is now in my neighborhood. Before I even got the chance to order I didn't get the Jim's original vibe. One register, noRC cola! Ok im good with a fountain coke so let's move forward. I placed the order and quickly off to the next window. Sweet myorder is in the bag, but wait I hear the gentleman from behind the counter say "we don't have your fries ready". We'll atleastthe fries will be fresh, right? Finally I received my food and go for a quick sit. Reaching into the bag I get the familiarsmell of the cheeseburger with the grilled onions. The burger was on point, but the bun was slightly dry, the hotdogs had yourtraditional taste but also a dry bun super fresh fries though! Oh yea they forgot the sport pepper after I asked for one. I tookone bite into the sport pepper and definitely it seemed to have a differt taste. Overall the place has some kinks that need tobe worked out and I hope they do work them out. I will be back in the future. I did notice alot of people standing around whenthey could have been doing things like making fries or reloading the bun steamers. I write a somewhat harsh review in hopesmanagement sees this and fixes things. Read more
