Reviews for Jerky Jerk in Chicago, IL
My favorite Jerk spot, anywhere close to downtown, closed 6 or 7 years ago. I didn't really think that anyone would ever open... up another Jerk restaurant close to downtown, where I live. I actually found out about this place because a customer at my workbrought it in for our staff. I was blown away with how good the Jerk chicken was. Very authentic, spicy (but just the rightspicy) and the sides were great. Since then, I have ordered almost every Friday. So far, I have tried all the mains, exceptthe curry goat (which will get ordered next Friday! ), and everything has been awesome! I call and place my order right whenthey open, and in the 10 minutes it takes me to drive there, the food is ready to go, every time. The staff is always superfriendly and greets you with a smile, which makes the experience so much better. Very glad that someone took the time to open aproper Jerk Joint, in a great neighborhood! Omg delish!! Every bite was good and full of flavor, not too much just right. I got the curry and jerk chicken, with beans and... rice, vegetables, Mac and cheese with a side of plantains. I can?t wait to get back there! Read more
Is this even considered jerk chicken?! It had nooo jerk flavor. It tasted more like a hot wing. The corn and peppers had a weird... taste. I couldn?t even eat it. The cabbage was the only decent tasting item I ordered. This is my first and last time here. It?sa hard pass for me. Read more
If you like authentic Caribbean / Jamaican food, this is your spot to you. Their dishes are homemade using recipes that were... brought from Jamaica and are loaded with spice. I got the jerk stir fry and Mac n cheese and both came out steaming and full offlavor. They even have a lot of vegetarian flavors as well. Pair with a sweet tea and you?re good to go. :) Read more
LET ME START BY SAYING THAT EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! Everything was packed to perfection! I got the pick three meats option!... The portions are fair. The food was hot and fresh. The ox tails were SUPER DELICIOUS. The jerky chicken was juicy and flavorful!I did not care for the Mac and cheese or sweet potatoes, but everything was still good. YES! You have to pay for bread, which isunfortunate! But let?s be real people, inflation has caused prices to rise in everything! So please support this businessbecause the food is amazing! Read more
I recently visited Jerky Jerk. I will admit that Caribbean and Jamaican food is not exactly in my wheelhouse, so I was not sure... what to expect. However, the moment I walked in the smells were overwhelming and amazing. From that moment, I knew that I wasin for some great food. I ordered the Jerky Burrito and Mrs. Brown?s Smothered Chicken. I got the sides of mac n cheese andrice and peas. The Mrs. Brown?s Smothered Chicken was amazing. It was saucy and delicious. The best part of it was thechicken was cooked to point where it was literally falling off the bone. I used a fork to eat it, but I didn?t need to use itto take apart the chicken. The Jerky Burrito was good to. It had rice and some jerk chicken. The interior of the restaurantwas simple, but they had two large TVs. I enjoyed watching some sports as I ate my meal. Jerky Jerk is a must visit. Read more
I'm no Jamaican food expert but this place is really good and has employees with a great vibe. I wish they had plantains on my... plate but I enjoyed it very much and even ate my food outside! They have diverse sides and other elevated food items which Ialso appreciated! Good job to them!!! Read more
