I came here a year ago and I thought it was great! Then I brought a friend here recently, who was visiting from out of town, and... I was embarrassed that I recommended it. 1. It wasn’t even busy and we had to flag down our server for *everything*(silverware, glasses, placing our order, getting the check, etc) - and we weren’t in a rush, it just took so long that itseemed like they forgot about us. 2. Either the glasses or water smelled like fish, which was unbearable during our hangover. 3.And the saddest part of all, was that our eggs bennys were both completely cooked through (see photo). The biscuits were alsopretty dry, but thankfully the hollandaise was good. I’m pretty tolerable of below average service or food quality, but thiswas unacceptable to me for what seems like a “nice” restaurant. Will maybe give them one more shot in hopes this was ananomaly because I do love the vibe there and it’s close to home, but my expectations have plummeted. Read more

On a chance went to check it out. I saw the happy hour menu and thought, why not! I ordered a burger and beer... And all I can... say is wow. The beer was nice and cold and burger was probably one of the best I have had in a long time. Nothing fancy buteverything executed to perfection. Potato bun, two patties, American cheese, and great pickles with ketchup and mustard... Andhaving it outside while the world passes by made my evening. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great happy hour, nicehosts, friendly servers and tasty food. Read more

Food is not the greatest, but the view of the park while seated outside is nice. If you’re staying at the Hotel Essex and need... a quick bite, it will suffice, but it’s not the best place in the area. Read more

From the moment we arrived none of the front staff looked friendly and it took a while to be greeted. We asked to sit inside as... we knew it was going to rain. The hostess said that the only table available was a small high table right behind the greetingstation. Interesting since there were many other tables available in a different section of the restaurant. We said we wouldwait for another table which she said should take 10 minutes. A little while later we were called and escorted to a tableOUTSIDE. I told her I had asked for a table inside, so guess what? We got the small high table with really uncomfortablestools. Moving on. We were ready to order. Our son wanted the steak frites. They didn't have any left. So he ordered thechicken. The bar server didn't know if they had any left. I asked her to please check because if they didn't have any we wouldneed to go somewhere else. We also ordered a bottle of Californian Sauvignon Blanc wine. The server returned and I immediatelythought she was going to say they didn't have the chicken. No, they had the chicken but not the wine. I asked what bottle ofwhite they had. Her answer - none. I asked about getting a glass of white. She said that the only white they had was a housewhite. So I asked what the house white was. Apparently the house white was the restaurant's house white (aka homemade). I reallydon't understand how a restaurant can sell out of ALL their white wine. This makes no sense to me. The initial server neverchecked on us again. Another server came only after we were finished our meal to see if everything was OK. Clearly service isnot of high importance to them. Plus our son had food poisoning symptoms shortly after eating his chicken. I really wanted tolike this restaurant. But sadly it was disappointing and I do not recommend dining here. Read more

Heard very good things about place so decided to try but thats actually not the case. Got the tabke outside fairly quick which... was good. Ordered fried chicken sandwich, pesto fettuccine both were decent, but steak frites and pork chops were equally badand had to send back twice to get it cooked correctly plus it took then forever to cook. They gave us a discount, but still. Maybe there was a lot of distraction going on aroujd that day, i dont know. May be will visit again but not sure. Drinks were good. Read more

I was wandering downtown and stopped in here for lunch. The menu is a little on the pricey side for what they offer but I got... the regular burger and it was really good. The atmosphere is nice and they have a great outdoor seating area as well. Read more

It was busy when I arrived but a table open up quickly. Service was excellent despite it being busy. Nice place to grab a bite... before a show in the South Loop area. Good variety on the menu and good drink menu. The outdoor seating looks nice! Read more

We loved this restaurant! First, we went for happy hour. They had some really great deals on drinks and food. We got the happy... hour macaroni and cheese and were surprised at the size and quality of the dish. Big enough for a smaller meal. The nextmorning we returned for breakfast. Although the wait was a bit long because of how busy it was, we were once again impressedwith the quality of the food. While this isn’t the largest restaurant, and there can be a little wait, it’s clean andserves some fantastic dishes. I’d stop here again! Read more
