This was my first Korean BBQ experience and I was left feeling a bit disappointed. We asked what they recommended for... first-timers and ended up with a marinated chicken and marinated steak. I had looked forward to cooking my own meats and havinga variety of sauces to dip in and eat with rice and veggies. However, they cooked the meats for us at the table and it didn'treally have any sauces. The traditional Korean sides and rice were the main sides. It was delicious but just felt like we weremissing some sauces and more vegetables. I also saw other tables cooking their own food and with a variety of different heatingelements so maybe we need to try it again and ask different questions to get the right dish. Overall, a worthwhile place for Korean BBQ. The meat was of decent quality & tasty. The portion side was good as well. The only... short comings were a lack of side dishes & having to ask for everything like napkins, utensils, & drinks. We had to ask forEVERYTHING is regards to the above mentioned. I'm not sure if they were short staffed but, we sat with empty drinks for asignificant part of the meal & had to shout to the staff to get refills, etc. Read more
Service was good, lots of random food sides brought out on the table that we didn't know what to do with. Drinks were great.
This place is EXTREMELY understaffed. Only two servers for nearly ten tables 6 pm Saturday night. Took over an hour to get our... order in and get the charcoal on the table. They really should limit the capacity to ensure a pleasant diningexperience! Don’t go there during busy hours! However, to be honest, the food was truly authentic, definitely one of thebest Kbbq in Chicagoland. Almost forgot, it is really cold inside during winter. Hope they can get the staffing issueresolved. I know it’s been hard to hire people recently. I’ll come back maybe, and I may up my review stars. Read more
Hidden Gem!! First time going with my friends and we loved every food that we ordered and cleaned all the plates!! Love their... veggies pancakes and it’s the best I have tasted!! All the meat were delicious and kimchi fried rice at the end wasphenomenal!! Highly recommend it if you want quality meat and food!! Will definitely be back! Read more
Authentic korean restaurant with authemtic food. The place feels like they wanted to have too much on same place - korean... seatings (on floor) and chairs, bar, a screen and newest kpop on that. Doesn't mix really well. Otherwise pleasant and love thebell. Read more
The BEST Korean Restaurant in Chicago! For the past two years that I have been in Chicago, I was on a hunt to find the best... Korean BBQ place and Gogi takes first place! PROS: 1. Nice staff - the owner, his wife and the entire staff provides greatcustomer service and is very efficient 2. Food - IT IS THE BEST KOREAN BBQ IN CHICAGO. I suggest ordering the samgyeopsal, thepork is thick and juicy. 3. Price - This is a $$ kind of restaurant but you are also getting your money’s worth! 4. Ambiance -on the outside it might look like a small place but when you go in the restaurant, the place is clean and quite large too. It was empty when we got there and we were told it was typically empty before 7pm. Ordered the bulgogi and the brisket and beef... bibimbap. We’ve tried Korean food previously and particularly Korean bbq, but this just wasn’t it. The brisket came outfrozen, and there’s no grease on the grill so the meat ended up hard and dry like it was boiled. And didn’t taste likeanything. We were offered sesame oil, hot sauce, sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce but none of those helped. When we complainedthey did take it away and off our order. The bulgogi tasted a little better than the brisket but still had a boiled texture. Thebibimbap was the best thing of the lot and came with a flavorful hot sauce.
