Reviews for Big Star Wrigleyville in Chicago, IL
The food was good. Tacos and ensalada were very delicious. But it is pricey. $5-7 a taco and they are not very big. They... didn't have iced tea. Chips and guacamole $12!! And again not big portions to justify the price. No chips and salsa come withthe table. No rice and beans. Read more
Went on a Tuesday night (July 5th) around 9 and the place was pretty empty- but it shouldn’t be an excuse for what happened... next. The seating staff is friendly but the one that attended me never asked how were things going and other staff were justplaying their phones. Speaking of the food, I went there many times and the quality of the food declined to a level that I thinkthere was something going on in the kitchen. Al pastor came with the pork that was dry and obviously overcooked, meaning notjuicy at all. Fish taco, same thing, the frying powder outside the fish has a larger size than the fish itself. The only thinggood is the sauce of the shrimp taco, quite refreshing. The drink isn’t impressive either. The most disappointing part is thatthe place used to be such a good place with good food, staff and vibe, just not any more. Read more
First time experience. Won't be back, won't take guests or suggest to go there. Picked up an order of nachos and a taco. The... point of nachos is to essentially be a vessel for copious amounts of cheese. So if the nachos have almost no cheese, what's thepoint? Chips and topping flavor was just "okay". But again without cheese just not worth eating. I'm native Chicagoan but spenttime on the west coast so for the fish taco i was expecting something along the lines of what you'd very commonly find in SanDiego. But unfortunately, the taco was just sad and skint. Even the slaw was sad. I'm a bit of a foodie so it’s not greatwhen you're left thinking that you'd have been better off walking a half block over over to taco bell instead. Read more
Nice fun bar right in front of Wrigley field. I was there on a Tuesday night in February with no baseball but the place was... somewhat crowded. Staff is friendly and the tacos are good. Great place for beers/cocktails and a quick bite. Fun! Read more
Have been a longtime fan of Big Star, especially their fish tacos. Had the chance to try their Panza tacos which actually are... now going to be a regular order. The queso was delicious too. All in all, a reliably good place to go to in Chicago. On theslightly pricier side. Service is friendly and warm. Read more
I recently visited Big Star Wrigleyville following a Cubs game. I was immediately taken aback that a security guard asked me for... my ID before entering (at about 4:30 pm on a Saturday), but didn't ask me for my vaccination status. I had no plans on drinkingso I'm not exactly sure why they were looking at my ID. Aside from that experience, the service from the waitress was attentiveand the food came out pretty quickly. The nachos were delicious although I would ask for additional queso the next time Ivisit. Overall, the experience and the food was good and I will be returning. Read more
My friend and I had an absolutely awesome time here. Great location with an amazing atmosphere. Truly a classic Chicago sports... bar to enjoy the city from! Our hostess/server Bella was very attentive and incredibly helpful in picking the best food on themenu, and she made our experience that much better! The food can be a bit pricey, but I promise you it’s worth it (the fishtacos are to DIE for). Read more
