My husband has never had Ethiopian food so I wanted to take him here. I chose this place because they’re open til midnight and... luckily, they had parking. Really enjoyed the short ribs. The veggie sampler came with a green sauce that reminded me ofhorseradish.. it was so good on the short ribs. Also really enjoyed the assorted sambuscas and Ethiopian tea. It also happenedto be the owner’s birthday, and she gave us slices of her birthday cake. I also really enjoyed the smell of the incense theywere burning.. all and all, it was really a wonderful dinner experience. Read more

As a big fan of Ethiopian food, I'm sad that it took me SOOOO long to discover this hidden gem. The flavor profile here... outshines any other Ethiopian restaurant I have tried in the city. The service is always top notch (Mercy, our server this pastweekend was so gracious).... I cannot recommend this restaurant strongly enough... Read more

It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I couldn’t be happier that I came to Awash! My friend and I shared the... vegetarian combo and potato sambusa’s and they were so damn good! I was excited to try Ethiopian beer but sadly they were outof stock on this day but they had other beer selection to choose from. We ended the meal with coffee and my goodness was itdelicious! I cannot say enough good things about this place- food was great, service was phenomenal and I believe the place isfamily run. Thank y’all for the wonderful experience - I’ll be back soon! Read more

Injera came out cold - otherwise the food was flavorful and delicious! The 1-person veg combo dish was definitely filling... enough. Not the best Ethiopian I’ve had, but I would definitely come back again. Ethiopian spiced tea was also delicious.Tasted like cinnamon and black tea. Read more

We wandered in because we’re staying nearby for a night. Wish we were staying longer so we could go again. Veg plate was... wonderful. Nice mix of textures and flavors and temperatures. Server was very nice. Great place. Definitely have the tea. Read more

I’ve had Ethiopian food in multiple restaurants in New York, Washington DC, Florida, New Orleans and many more. I always was... in an impression that Ethiopian food can never go wrong. But here my experience was just disappointing. Probably it was justthat day. The injera was so cold, dry and undercooked. The different curries weren’t fresh, one of them smelled stale. Overallhad a very unpleasant experience. For the first time I actually wasted Ethiopian food as I was just not able to eat it. Read more

This was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. We started with the Sambusa sampler and honey wine. Their honey wine is... homemade and TO DIE FOR! Delicious! And the sambusas were so good that we got 4 more of the lentil ones- everyone's favorite! There were 4 of us, so we got 2 of the vegetarian combo platters, one with a chick pea sauce (shiro) poured into the middle ofit, and the other with a mild chicken dish in the middle (Doro tibs alicha). We have never eaten Ethiopian food, but our serverwas so kind and helped us with what to order and how to eat it (you pick up everything with a delicious gluten free bread thatalmost tasted like sourdough- it was amazing!) We will definitely be back! Read more
