Reviews for Aloha Poke Co. in Chicago, IL
I got a poke bowl from here today and it was barely ediable. Stale rice, asked for salmon to be marinated and it wasn't and just... a very bland taste. I love poke bowls but this almost ruined it.. Read more
Delicious! I wish we had these places back home instead of all the Crazy Bowls restaurants.
On a random Tuesday, I went to The Shops at North Bridge food Court (aka Nordstrom's Food Court). I got there a little later... then I normally do as I had a meeting during that time. In any case I got the food court or what could be called a food courtfreaking panny. i wayed my options, the other two options I have been to too many times in the past and I felt like something Ihadn't tried yet, so I decided on the Aloha Pok? Co. I have to admit I have never have had Pok? before, so I thought ok let'stry it. I walked up to the stall, and examined the menu, I selected the Big size (actually a medium in their size chart) with abase of White Rice, and Pok? of Shrimp. Though I was told to select a second option as well, so I don't know if that is normalor maybe they were running low on shrimp; so I selected chicken as well, which doesn't seem very Pok? to me but I am usuallyrather relaxed, got them both marinated with sesame & shoyu. For the style I went with valcano, a "house bowl" as opposed tomaking my own, as I am clueless when it comes to Pok?. The staff was helpful and it took only moments to recieve my bowl. Thebowl looked well prepared, that held up well on the four block journey back to my office, so presentation was pretty good. Thetaste, let's start with the base, the white rice was a tasty sticky rice as you would expect from a dish of this type, thechicken was likewise tasty. The shrimp for what there was of it was good, the Edamame was alright I suppose though I am not abig fan of soy beans, and I learned after the fact, that they are immature soybeans, they really can be used for just aboutanything. The little bit of seaweed was in the dish I will not comment on because I am really not a fan in general. The Tobiko(flying fish roe) wasn alright. Read more
I enjoy it. The food tastes fresh, the portions are big. And when I was here, the service was really nice. The guy handed me my... bowl ever so gently and said "I just made you the prettiest bowl I've made all day, special" and while I'm sure that's nonsense,it made me laugh a little. And he was right- it is a pretty bowl. Read more
Poke bowls are great whether you order there or get it delivered. So much packed into the container!
They had me check off what I want on a little slip of paper (I hope they recycle) even though there wasn't a line. A little... impersonal, but efficient, if they were busy (I guess). What disappointed me most when I got back to work was discovering notobiko or avocado, both of which I had definitely checked off as desiring. Oh well. Read more
It was my first poke and I loved it. Fresh and yummy. However, the portion was quite small compared to the price.
Fresh and delicious. I'm always a skeptic on raw offerings and sushi styles - they aren't always done "right". Ordered the ahi... tuna crunch bowl. It was delicious. Everything was fresh, a huge plus. Read more
