Reviews for Alexander's Restaurant in Chicago, IL
Delicious diner with retro vibes, great food, and friendly service. The milkshakes are thick and the corned beef omelette was... huge and so tasty. Fluffiest pancakes ever. Good coffee. They make homemade soups that are served with some meals making for avery hearty dining experience. We sat in a booth with a window view, got the shakes to go, and then walked a few blocks toAndersonville. It all made for a perfect day. Will definitely come back! Read more
a great value small diner with charm and flavors that keep on giving ????
A 60-yr-old institution in Edgewater, a classic diner with comfy booths and counter seating. I had the corned beef on rye with... fries and a salad. The sandwich was rather dry but perked up with some thousand dressing. Fries were crunchy and tasty and saladwith Italian dressing was very generous. My companion tried out the chicken Philly sandwich mashed potatoes with gravy and thelentil soup. He gave everything a thumbs up. I sampled his lentil soup and I thought it was a bit too tomatoey and thick for mytaste. I might have given this restaurant only three stars for this particular visit but the service earned it a fourth Star asthe staff is very attentive to your needs. I'll be back. Read more
The food is excellent, always have and hopefully always will be. It?s a nostalgic joint on the north side of Chicago surrounded... by busy commuters and businesses of the like. Customer service is super friendly and the once again the food is wonderful. Bythe way they have grits upon request. ???? Read more
Great 1st visit in this old school city diner. Small location with some counter seating and tight booths. Very clean and... redesigned restaurant. All our food arranged hot and larger portions than expected at very good price. Definately coming backto try other plates. Wish it was also open for dinner however breakfast and lunch works. There is some behind building freeparking however it was full. Great job guys, wish you were located closer to our neighborhood. Read more
Came to this place out of nostalgia .. used to come here when we lived in Chicago 12+ years ago. Still the same great food. The... only down side was that we came here on Sunday, Father's Day and it was packed! That wouldn't necessarily be a problem exceptthey had only one waitress basically doing everything. Consequently the service suffered but I was amazed that she kept up aswell as she did. Glad we came and will come back again. Read more
So, I've been going to this restaurant since I was 5 or 7 yrs of age...Well, I am a helluva a lot older now ...This was the spot... for all of our momma's to hit on a Friday night or after work...As time has gone on there aren't many of them left, but as forme, I was in the area and figured why not... It did not disappoint...My server, Nikki was great...She really did a good of jobof serving my food as well as listening to my stories of going there as a kid... I ordered the Turkey Club sandwich...It wasdamn tasty...Just the right mixture of textures and flavors combining for a perfect sandwich...Yummy french fries andColeslaw...In addition, I also had the Rose marina soup and it was incredible...The only knock would be that the bread they gaveme with the soup could have been a bit more fresh... The place was very clean, that I could see and the rest of the staff wasvery friendly...Pricing was in line with most restaurants of this type as well... They updated the inside since I had been herelast and it looked very cozy...It was a nice decor... The previous owner I had remembered has since passed away, but I was toldthe cook had now purchased the business...From the looks of it he's doing a great job... It's been years if not decades since Iwas here last and I'll try and not let that happen again...The nostalgia was nice to experience as well as great service andgreat food... I'll be back and thanks for it all... Read more
I ate breakfast here a few times while staying in the area. It?s a tightly run joint, and although the boss lady doesn?t look... the most friendliest of people at a distance, she?s actually a great friendly host. I had the vegetarian skillet twice which wasdelicious, and the Mediterranean scrambled eggs another time. They also do freshly squeezed orange juice. This is a place thatI?m unlikely to ever eat at again, not because I wouldn?t want to, but because I live on the other side of the world. Yet, in mytravels, I can always tell the places that have been around for a long time have so because they?re just genuinely good. I wishthe best for Alexander?s. May all your staff live a prosperous and fulfilling life. Thanks for the food! Read more
