We tried Parthenon at the recommendation of a co-worker. The food was good. I had the soup of the day which was a seafood soup... and it was awesome - more like a seafood stew. Entree was shrimp dish with peppers and onions. Dessert was the baklava which wasexcellent. My wife wasn't too happy with the decor - she felt darker walls would have provided a cozy ambiance as opposed tothe white. But I didn't feel the same way. Our server was attentive without being annoying. Overall a very nice experience ifyou like Greek food. Read more

Parthenon is a hidden Gem! I ordered the Lamb Chops and the Eggplant dip. I can attest as a lamb connoisseur, the quality of... these lamb chops are high end. Leave it to Greeks to cook lamb to perfection! Truly tastes like the lamb chops I had in Greece. It?s seasoned perfectly. And the eggplant dip was also just as phenomenal. Super fresh and pairs really well with the bread. Andby the way, I don?t know where they get their veggies from, but they are the freshest I?ve had at any restaurant. You can reallytaste the quality. The ambiance and vibe is also really nice. The staff here is super friendly and upbeat! Everyone seems veryhappy here and I love that energy. Just an overall cool spot with great food. They have an extensive menu that will pleaseanyone. I look forward to coming here more frequently and eventually trying everything else on the menu. Read more

The atmosphere is nice and the menu is diverse. The food is homemade and authentic. We really enjoyed the hot mixed appetizer.... Our seafood entree had overcooked shrimp and very undercooked jumbo scallops, which is why we're giving a 4 star review insteadof 5. It was also overpriced compared to other similar restaurants, but that had to do with location in DC as much as anythingelse. Regardless, I'd like to go back and try again. Read more

Spur of the moment decision to visit and we're so glad we did. Our picky dieter found lots she could eat and the rest of us went... all out with specials and specialities. The gyro was excellent, the kabobs were, too. I had scallops and linguini and they werehuge and outstanding. Our server was hilarious and very helpful with menu questions and recommended an outstanding Greek wine.[Note: the wine needed to breathe (I thought it had turned at first.). But after I waited a while it opened up and was one ofthe most excellent I've ever had - that if you love dry and oakey.] Everything was a little pricey, but I have to say it was alltotally worth it. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I was very disappointed in the order I recently received from Parthenon Restaurant via... DoorDash. Pastitsio is generally my favorite meal, and for $20 I was expecting some great pastitsio from this restaurant.Unfortunately, when it arrived it was extremely greasy, very overdone, mushy, and bland. In addition, the accompanyingvegetables were too salty to be edible. I added a star because the free bread that arrived with my order was absolutelydelicious and the portions were generous. The Parthenon is a justly beloved traditional Greek restaurant in DC. Enjoying a meal on the Parthenon?s attractive outdoor... patio is a rite of spring and rightly so. Portions are generous and service friendly. Some restaurants never seem to change andthe Parthenon is one of them. That?s the point. While I?ve been less enamored of a few of the traditional entrees post-pandemic(I?ve found the baked lamb and moussaka duller than previously, although my companion loved the latter), there is some deliciousGreek food to be had here. My latest visit yielded the following excellent preparations: fried squid (light, tender with acrisp exterior), lamb souvlaki (beautifully grilled with a hint of char, also available in chicken or pork) and baklava (notoverly sweet, a symphony in flaky philo, walnuts and cinnamon.) The traditional Greek coffee makes a delicious end to a meal(choose your desired level of sweetness: bitter, medium or sweet.) Enjoy! Read more

I was visiting Washington a few weeks ago and ate the Parthenon. We were seated outside on a covered patio on a nice cool... evening. For appetizers we the Saganaki Flambe and the Manitaria Gemista (mushroom stuffed with crab). Both were delicious. Inaddition, we had three shots of Ouzo to celebrate our upcoming Greek main courses. In between the meals one of the owners Mikecame over and had a long conversation about the history of the restaurant and the food. There were three of us and for the maincourse I ordered the Broiled Pork Chops with potatoes and vegetables, my friend ordered the Glosa Gemisti with Crab Meat andvegetables, (stuffed Flounder), our third person had a Greek salad. As you can see by the pictures the portions were generous. The food was delicious, and the service was out of this world. There was the metered street parking, and this restaurant is dogfriendly on the outside patio section. So, when in the Chevy Chase area and looking an authentic Greek restaurant for lunch ordinner the Parthenon is the place to go. Read more

I came in and a ordered to go. Lots of people dinning here. I ordered a gyro sandwich with fries and when I opened the box they... gave me the platter instead. Not a big deal let?s dig into the gyro meat, the meat was dry but plentiful. But I was upset withthe quality because it was busy, no reason to have gyro meat pre cut off the spit. The bread was soggy. The fries were okay. Thesauce was terrible like it was sitting for days. Read more
