Fabulous dining experience thanks to wonderful staff and warm and inviting dining room in which one can actually have a... conversation with dinner companions. Outdoor terrace dining overlooking Garden and Glover-Archbold Park though terrace tablesonly accommodate two. Great bar and bartenders, nice menu featuring classic pastas, nice fish and meat options. We especiallyenjoyed the pork chop with polenta. Classic Italian desserts did not disappoint! Owner Lucy DeCarlo is often stopping by tablesto check in with guests personally. Highly recommend! I’m rating DeCarlo’s 4 stars. but I love this establishment dearly and am delighted by its recent move to The Westchester at... 4000 Cathedral Avenue, NW, off Idaho Avenue in DC. Get to know the menu and you’ll have a 5-star experience. DeCarlo’s newWestchester location is serene, comfortable and elegant, with beautiful views of sweeping gardens. Ceilings are high and tablesare widely spaced. In addition to two airy dining rooms, there is a small outdoor terrace with approximately 8 tables, mostseating two diners. The decor is classic in the best possible way: Cary Grant would be at home, as would Katharine Hepburn. Onecan easily imagine Humphrey Bogart playing Rick Blaine here, overseeing the passing scene from the edge of the diningareas. Service is gracious and attentive. Founder Lucy DeCarlo and longtime DeCarlo’s waitstaff have made the move to theWestchester, as has podcaster and former radio host Diane Rehm, a faithful DeCarlo’s patron. My four-star rating reflects thefact that the cooking occasionally misses the mark, but there are many delicious items to choose from. Some of our continuingfavorites: Steamed artichoke (always outstanding) Arugula salad Parmesan crusted pork chop Grilled veal chop TroutFlorentine Scallops with pancetta Seafood pasta Veal and spinach lasagna Specials and desserts are consistently satisfying. Ifyou like soft shell crabs, they are excellent here. Your car will be parked by a valet ($10.) Note that 2 short sets of stairs(3-4 steps each) must be navigated to reach the dining area. The food was great and the service from Omar was top knotch. It was a really welcoming environment. The owner's niece, Susie,... was very sweet and made us feel as if we were friends visiting in her home. The Frutti de Mare, Vitello alla DeCarlo, and Trotaalla Florentina were all amazing and the Calamari was the best we have ever had. Thanks for a fabulous meal, DeCarlo's! Read more

Located in a gorgeous 30’s building. So has beautiful ambiance . Food is mixed. My lobster salad was disappointing . I was... expecting a nice crisp salad with strips and pieces of fresh moist lobster. Instead I got small round balls of “lobster “ (cooked ?)which did not taste like lobster to me , on a bed of limpy overdressed greens and mercifully a nice piece of avocado .But my husband’s dish Chicken scallopini was apparently delicious . There is lots of great choice of desert , Service was goodand so were the prices . Worthy trying but I would not go again . Read more
