We haven?t eaten at Ankar?s in awhile and it has really gone downhill. The steak in a sack (pita sandwich) had hard edges on the... bread, the meat was dry and it has shrunk in size but not in price. It used to be so good but this visit was very disappointing. Read more
I'm so glad we found this place on our lunch break. The menu is extensive and generally consists of sandiwches on riders (pita... pockets) or sub bread along with traditional buns for the hamburgers. We decided to order riders, one philly and one reuben,and both were superb. Both were filled to almost overflowing along with a order of fries and 2 drinks. We came out a little over$10 a person, and the food is WELL worth it. I feel I could have ordered anything off the menu and it would have been excellent.I will also note the onion rings are about as big around as an average fist. We usually go to Ankar's Hoagies on Brainerd Road, but thought we'd enjoy trying this location. They didn't disappoint and were... a little less crowded, so we ate in. We love their Greek salads with added chicken or giro meat. Delicious. Read more
I usually have a good experience at Ankar?s, but this time I got all the way home and NO FRIES that I paid for.
Food is so hot and fresh! It?s high quality food with a great price tag and good portions. Their onion rings are the best I?ve... had and I highly suggest the steak sub with provolone cheese ? so delicious! The sandwich is big enough that if you can probablyshare or have enough leftovers for later. It cost around $13 for the sun and onion rings. Read more
Ordered online, which was very easy. Arrived a couple minutes later than app (not run by Ankar's, I don't think) said food would... be ready. I think the restaurant must have been busy because mine wasn't quite ready to go. I have loved the rueben rider, halfdone pickle, and onion rings here since childhood. I moved to Illinois 12 years ago and don't get back often. I was excited tobe able to order my favorites and have the same taste experience I have remembered since childhood. Delicious food! Always good, fresh food at an affordable cost. Employees are always friendly. The food is very easily customizable as well which... is a big one for me. I gave the atmosphere a 4 out of 5 because it's a pretty normal mom and pop restaurant. It doesn't needfancy decor though because the food is awesome. Highly recommend for a casual yummy eat.
