Mac and cheese, collard greens oxtails...everything was good. I'm definitely coming back, found me another Caribbean spot!
I normally order the curry shrimp weekly from here. The cook must have took a day 20 dollars worth of trash. They never leave... the tails on the shrimp and somebody was mad decided they were going to burn everybody?s mouth and pour a whole container ofcurry on the food. Dry vegetables dry macaroni was horrible my dog wouldn?t eat a spoon full. And of course you?re not able tocontact anybody on the phone. Read more
As a Jamaican American, I have to say this food was not good! I ordered curry goat.. the portion was great but the taste was not... like any curry goat I?ve ever eaten, no flavor and real tough like.. It was just nasty. The sauce nasty, the plaintain lookedold. The sorrel was so nasty.. I was very disappointed. I just ate the white rice and picked over the goat.. my friendrecommended but he doesn?t know authentic Jamaican food like a lot of the people in NC so they just think It?s good. So nottrue. As a Jamaican-American, I have to say the atmosphere was great, service was pretty quick as this cuisine is not necessarily... "fast food" BUT the food all around could be seasoned better and cooked a tiny bit longer. LOVED the steamed cabbage! And thepatties were DELICIOUS! We absolutely loved it here. The Jerk Chicken with rice and peas was incredible; if you get that you have to get it with the... jerk sauce on top. The oxtail was fall of the bone and went so well with the Mac n cheese. This was exactly what I was lookingfor with an authentic Caribbean dining experience. First time trying this family owned establishment. The menu is handwritten and hangs where you need to order. I was honored to... have "Mama" herself take my order. The service was quick, the food arrived hot and delicious. I had the roti with curried goatand a friend had the small curried goat meal (rice and peas with a side order of plantains). Date night on a Tuesday. I'd never been here and the love of my life loves Caribbean food. He is from Barbados. The gentleman... that served us was very polite and helpful. He was patient with me when I was ordering because I had no clue. They play reggaeso it got my love in the dancing mood which is not something that happens on a regular basis lol. So while we waited for ourfood we danced. It was a Tuesday evening, so it was just the two of us that were dining in. There were plenty of take outorders. I got off work at 7:30pm so I was grateful for the hospitality. They served our food hot and great portion sizes. Iwould recommend trying Mama's punch.
