This was such an interesting place to see. I had no idea it was haunted. If I could be brave enough I would probably go to the... ghost tour, but I'm still not sure. One of the ladies had on a ghostbuster jacket so I had a sneaking suspicion. It was haunted. So I asked and they informed me that it was the doctor that used to live there, the governess, and the little girls haunt theplace. And then it was confirmed by another person that was there that some of the tourists had had their hair pulled or hadbeen pushed by one of the ghosts. One of the workers said they've even heard their name called which sounds very spooky. Greattime! Read more

A hidden gem in Charlotte! I love historic houses, but had never heard of this one and there are no others in the area. Be sure... to go on a Friday or the last Saturday of the month so you can take the hour-long guided tour. Our docent, Ishmael, was superb. He told a great story, taught me some things I didn't know (and I'm a history major and previous museum curator, so that's ahigh bar), and even kept several children on the tour interested for the whole time. Great and informative way to spend anafternoon. Read more

Catching up on reviews. I stopped by for the first time on Sunday, 05-08-22. Couldn't be with my mom for Mother's Day so I took... advantage of the free admission being offered. Truly another one of Charlotte's hidden gems! I've driven by for years &couldn't believe the beauty that captivated me just beyond downtown. It was chilly that day, but the flowers in bloom warmed myheart. I was just as mesmerized by that swamp chestnut oak as I was by any tree I'd seen near Charleston. The staff was veryfriendly. They were eager to answer my questions and give me a great history lesson. Would definitely return. Read more

On April 21, twenty three of our garden club members enjoyed a wonderful day at Historic Rosedale. The azaleas, iris and... dogwoods were in fine form and we saw many lovely native trees and shrubs. Cher and the garden staff were most welcoming,Rosedale is a real treasure. Thanks. Read more

A lot to explore on a small property. It cost $2 to walk the grounds, and since I am traveling with my dogs, I was only... interested in walking the grounds. The house exterior is very well maintained. The gardens have 3 sections and are located tothe left of the house. In the back to the left is a large covered area for events. Located in the back is the visitorscenter/office where you pay for admission. In the same building is where the restrooms are located. To my surprise, the ladiesroom is nice!!! Probably because they do special events, like wedding there. To the right of the house is a nice trail through asmall arboretum. There is also a blacksmith house with an exhibit to the right place f the house where the parking area is. Ivisited this day, January. I am sure the property looks even more beautiful in the Spring to Fall. There are some floweringtrees/bushes when I visited. In addition to the admission fee, you can make a donation to help maintain the property. Thedonation box is located on the counter where you pay your admission fee. If no one is there, you can pay your fee using theenvelopes hanging in the door of the visitors center. Please bring cash, just in case. I really enjoyed my walk around theproperty. I walked a little over a mile around the entire property included the trails. Read more

Very neat place to take kids to learn about history of the area and how some people lived in the 1800's. This is a self guided... tour, where you walk through the house from the basement all the way to the attic. The tour guides were very helpful and wereable to provide a lot of information. It will only take about an hour to get through. Read more

Visiting Rosedale was a wonderful experience. Being only a few miles from uptown, it is a Stark contrast to it's surroundings.... The garden is gorgeous to tour. The aged trees are enjoyable to relax under. The tour of the house is a wonderful way to learnabout what sets this Charlotte area working plantation separate from your typical southern plantation.
