I've heard about this place since I've moved and decided to check them out since I had a day off. The breakfast special was... delicious and at a good price. The coffee was good & hot and staff is really friendly. They will ask for tips in cash but theyexplain why & it made sense to me. I'll take my family back for dinner soon. Read more

We?ve been coming here for awhile now and have seen Charlotte Cafe ebb and flow with the times. It survived the pandemic where... others did not and I think the primary reason is the loyal following it?s garnered over the years. The service is prettyfriendly but, like many places, they?ve been stretched a bit thin recently. The menu has stayed the same for the years we?vebeen coming here and the days when the Fried Chicken is the special are the days we usually come in. The sides are solid andthere?s many options to choose from. There are flashier places to go if you want a hipster brunch but CC does the classics wellenough to get return visits from us. Hope this place continues on for many years. Read more

The Charlotte Cafe is ?short of help,? and seemingly not welcoming of African Americans on my opinion and I?ve experienced this... at the Arboretum Charlotte quite often. The waitress tried to encourage me to order to go but asked me if I wanted to eat inonce I gave her ?the look!? She then proceeds to ask if I would sit at the bar. ?Uh no??After that she sat me at a table andtold me I didn?t have to hurry. I did notice that a Caucasian woman came in after me and was immediately sat at a table.Sometimes you just wonder what is on the minds of people. She brings the order to the table and of course it?s wrong. I askedfor fries and she brings onion rings. All I can say is the food was great, the service is suspect. Read more

How this place has a 4 star rating is beyond me. This restaurant was not busy at all, but we waited and waited for our food.... Drank 2 cups of coffee and still no food. Everything we ordered was bland. The omelets were small and tasteless. The hash brownswere barely cooked. The biscuits were dry and doughy. The english muffin was barely toasted and cost an additional $2 to sub itfor toast. For the price of this awful meal we could have gone to IHOP and got larger portions and much better tasting, qualityfood. The service was not good either. To top it off, the restrooms were dirty. Don't waste your money. You will bedisappointed. Read more

I'm a bit baffled by the negative reviews here. I've been eating here for years, and most recently brought my parents wh were... visiting. There was a bit of a wait -- to be expected as this place is popular -- but not too long. My parents are botheelderly and PICKY eaters and the wait staff was patient and informative about the options and food ingredients. I have NEVERhad a problem with the quality of food, or the cleanliness of the establishment. My repeated business is a testament tothat. If you want good comfort food, this is the place to go. We went to Charlotte Cafe for the first time today and had very pleasant experience. Hostess and our waitress were phenomenal,... very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was delicious and came to our table quickly. We walked in on a Sunday at 9:45am and therewas no wait. Overall, we were very pleased and will be back! Read more

To begin, i am well aware waiting is necessary due to short staff. But unfortunately it was a very negative experience. We had... to wait 30 minutes to have order taken. And that was only because we stopped a waiter for them to take our order. Nolan didntask how the check would be, which caused further problems at the end of the meal. It smelled like burnt toast for a majority ofthe time. We ordered fried pickles which were burnt. So burnt they were inedible. The chicken soup tasted like a can of cream ofchicken with some noodles added. I ordered the sly scottie. And honestly it tasted like Thanksgiving dinner mixed together intoone bite. While the idea sounds interesting, the bread was soggy, the cranberry tasted like jam, and the turkey was turkey delimeat combined with a flavorless steamed broccoli. When ready to leave we didnt want to wait for our check and Angie checked usout. The new system couldnt split the check. Honestly, a very bad experience. And we certainly werent the only ones. A gentlemanhad to get up twice to hand the waiter his cup for a refill. Another group was complaining because they had to wait 30 minutesbefore receiving their check. Thats why we didnt wait. Organization was a big part to why things didnt go smoothly. Anothergreat idea was to have kids toys to keep them occupied. But they arent cleaned after theyre played with. This restaurant seemsto have great ideas....but they arent executed well. And the food definitely needs some work. Read more
