Ellen's is a staple of Capital Street in Charleston. They have great ice cream with excellent flavors, and other items to enjoy... as well. Any of their flavors can be done as a milkshake, a cone, a cup, pretty much however you want it. They also have some oftheir more popular flavors pre-packaged and ready to go in quart or pint sizes. If you don't go often, give their featured orseasonal flavors a try (like the Chocolate Grand Marnier), you'll be sure to enjoy them. Read more

Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream is a Charleston staple! They're located on a prime spot right in the heart of downtown. Street... parking and garage parking are both available nearby. Sometimes their hours may vary from what's regularly posted, so it isn't abad idea to check their FB and/or give them a call prior to stopping in. While they offer a nice variery of ice cream andmilkshakes, they also have other food options like wraps/salads/soups. The aesthetic inside the building is cheery, bright, andfriendly. The ice cream served here is really good. They have standard flavors like Butter Pecan and Espresso Oreo, but theyalso create amazing seasonal flavors like Pumpkin, Pawpaw, and Peppermint. If you happen to be in Charleston, I highly recommendtrying to stop by! Read more

When strolling down the cobbled walkway, we happened into this ice cream parlor and had been skeptical, since most of our food... experiences- ice cream especially- had been on the lower end. This was not the case. I am so unbelievably angry that I don'tlive closer, since this would be a weekly, if not daily stop from us. This is hands down some of the best Ice cream we have everhad. Thank you for the delight! Read more

Visiting from out of state. Looked online for a local homemade ice cream while in Charleston. Very excited to try local ice... cream. After locating and parking we find a small hand written sign saying they are closed. ( written with pen so not visibledriving by) There was nothing online saying closed. Wasted gas and coins to park. Cute little ice cream shop. Loved that they had non-dairy options. The raspberry almond milk ice cream was fantastic. Chocolate... Brownie Sundae pleased my chocolate loving son. Husband got a pink panther Sundae & I think the other kid got orange-creamsicleice cream. With a good size fudgey brownie at the bottom. Nice area it is located in too. Was a bit on the higher price sidefor ice cream shops we've visited. ($27 for 2 sundaes & 2 waffle cones.) But it was quality homemade ice cream in a big city, sothat wasn't a big surprise. Just heads up for travelers. Read more

Yumm! Wonderful ice cream flavours and variety of product available (gelato, smoothies, espresso, food bites, etc.) Charleston... is one of the places we stop at numerous times a year when traveling as it is on our way everytime.. we have come to find somewonderful stops and glad to have come across Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream! I enjoyed the passionfruit gelato and the coffee icecream, very delicious and creamy. They dont have any indoor dine in right now available but offer a variety of outdoors seatingalong Capitol Ave in downtown Charleston which made for a great stroll through the city while enjoying our frozen treats. Lotsof parking available as we came later in the evening and on a weekday but sure seems like a very busy area with a lot ofactivity but there are a lot of parking garages around. If looking for a wonderful dessert/beverage I'd recommend stopping by. Read more
