Reviews for China Buffet in Charleston, WV
Good service, the food is overwhelming in sugar and some of this is not "fresh" food. Hot food is a bit limited, most of it... tastes the same. Party of 5 or more will change price per person so can't give an accurate price. Place has an okay neatpresentation but not so clean in bathrooms. Ok to eat at -might go again, but not sure. Great Chinese buffet! Excellent price...for everything they offer at the buffet. Food tasted so good! The largest buffet that I... have seen in a long time. So many different dishes that were always hot and always filled up even though it was between lunchand dinner. Great servers always kept your drink filled up and asking if there was anything they could do for you while alwayssmiling and very pleasant.Large variety of meat dishes, salmon and at least 3 different shrimp dishes plus lots more. Iabsolutely loved the peel and eat shrimp from the salad bar. They were a good size and not like other buffets that have the verysmall shrimp. (if other buffets have any at all now) We were out for a drive from Ohio (2-2 1/2hrs away) and were told aboutthis great buffet and are planning on returning soon. Worth the drive for a great variety and good tasting food. Everyone was sofriendly/helpful. Read more

China Buffet is always delicious! My daughter got the squid fries as I was calling them. Then my son was like okay sis I am... going to get 1 and try it. So he starts eating it and says, Hey these are really good! He goes back and gets himself more. So Ilook and tell my daughter if she goes back to get another plate, to get me a couple squid fries, What the heck, I will try themwith you 2. So she brings me some, I take a bite and first thing I taste is a Jalapeno taste without the heat. It has a nicecrunchy batter on it. Very good to me too. My daughter missed her favorite thing last night, frog legs. I told her to ask theowner and I pointed him out to her. He and his wife have always been very nice folks. I had never eaten in a Chinese restaurantuntil they opened in 1998-1999?? In there original spot. They had a tree in there and the old buffet then seemed even larger. The egg rolls were larger and better. So we're the Crab Rangoon. So the 2nd time I ate there, I took my infant daughter, mybrother, and my mom. I got them hooked! It was so funny! Especially my brother! He and his wife, he still takes her out there todinner. Thank you China Buffet for making so many great memories for our family! You really still are the best Chinese Buffetaround!! We still love today....???????? Valerie Johnson Read more
We just moved to this area and have been looking for a good go-to buffet. This was our second visit here and I wasn't impressed.... The selection was decent on the"hot" buffet but the temperature and quality inconsistent. The taste was fair to mediocre, somewhat bland or very sweet with heavy amounts of sauces. It was as if they were trying to mask the flavor of the ingredients, which worried me. The cold bar was not great. It was messy and the selection was not as good as the first time. We chose to gohere because I wanted pineapple, melon and strawberries, which they had previously. This time, they had sub par honeydew (a bitslimy) and bananas covered with strawberry goop. I have nothing nice to say about the "salad" section either. You may not go toa buffet for salad and fruit but I don't eat dinner without it. This experience was irritating because the first visit was quitenice and tasty. I may try it out again but I'm not going to go out of my way to eat here. If anything changes, I'll let youknow. In the meantime, I will keep looking and I suggest you do the same. I will note that I prefer spicy, fresh natural food tosweet, processed or fried food in my dinner choices. When I go to a Chinese restaurant, I want to taste the fresh veggies andmeats, seafood, garlic, ginger, chilies, sesame, soy, etc. I do not want to taste overwhelming sugar. Read more
For the most part, usually pretty good, and service is quick and friendly. Each dish is full of flavor. Usually moist, though... can be a bit dry some days. As with most buffets, go during peek time for the freshest dining experience. This is the onlybuffet I go to regularly. Read more
At first glance of the buffet we were impressed with the variety and look of the food. Looks can be deceiving, food was greasy.... Egg rolls, stuffed crab Rangoon and stuffed mushroom caps were soggy and mushy. Food was barely warm. Not sure where the 4.5star rating came from, maybe it's me and my better half, but neither one of us were impressed. 33.00 for 2 to eat at a buffet, with as little as we ate, it was not worth the money, plus I could not get home quick enough to use the restroom, if you get mydrift.
