Reviews for The Glass Onion in Charleston, SC
The Glass Onion ???? had some of the best Southern comfort food I've had. The flavors were amazing. It was definitely a party in... my mouth. The shrimp and grits and the gumbo are meals I would eat once a week...or more. Very highly recommended! Read more
Absolutely outstanding restaurant in Charleston, SC. Only 15 min from the airport. Great diner atmosphere with Michelin-level... cuisine with a Southern flair is my take on this joint. The shrimp toast is phenomenal. Shrimp & grits were top notch andthough I am not normally a dessert man, the food was so good I had a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie - perfection. Givethis place a shot! Read more
The only thing good was the corn muffin. If you are going to call your restaurant Soul Food then it should taste like soul.... Trust me there was no soul in that food. Everything was undercooked!!! Plus, don't call Lima beans Butterbeans this Georgia girlknows the difference. Read more
We went there for the Diners, drive ins and dives hype, but my family didn't liked it much. They all liked the very southern... style mashed potatoes, although my son found a chicken bone in his, probably because they add real chicken broth to make them.I liked my meal, the fried quail with collard greens and Butterbeans. I really also enjoyed their Cabernet sauvignon. Read more
Was driving down the road with the kids and wife, windows down... Blasting 80s music, on our way to a restaurant when a smell... wafts into the truck and we cut a U turn to find it. There in front of us was the Glass Onion. Great service and AMAZING food! The food was beyond expectation and the price wasn't terrible. Really wish I would have known prior to paying that cash wascheaper, was charged 3% for using a card. Prices were appropriate to the food and services provided, which were excellent. Trulyenjoyed the dining experience. Read more

I have spent my life in the south and have never eaten grits I liked. After years and years trying them every way imaginable I... had all but given up. When I arrived at The Glass Onion I told them as much and hoped that they would redeem this southernclassic for me. The shrimp and grits they served me were absolutely fantastic! The grits were all of the best things about agreat cornbread with an even better gumbo style shrimp and sausage on top. The fried green tomatoes we crunchy and deliciouswith a phenomenal pimento cheese on top. I would recommend everyone go by and try anything the have on the menu ranging fromoyster bites (that were unsurprisingly sold out) to the classic chocolate peanut butter pie. Read more
