The food was amazing. Not good, not above average, but amazing. We went for our birthday celebration and went full into the... chef’s tasting with wine. Not only was the food out of this world but as we went on our server updated our wine pairings perour personal tastes to match the course. The grouper literally melts in your mouth. We started off with an off menu treat ofbeats… beats were prepared so well they were a savory treat. ???? We were so taken with the food, atmosphere, service andquality that we had the chef's and server sign a wine bottle for us to keep. If youre a foodie and want to try somethingwonderful, look no further. Each dish can be tailored to meet your specific dietary needs. I could continue to gush aboutSorghum & Salt, but you really need to just go. Read more

Wow! Sorghum & Salt provides an incredible culinary experience! Each dish was perfectly prepared with complex combinations of... flavors and beautiful presentation! We tried 9 dishes (one not pictured) and LOVED all but one (the turnips). Our favorites werethe roasted carrots, sweet potato, and the gnocchi! The food truly blew me away. The service was wonderful. Very small butbeautifully done restaurant. Read more

Sorghum & Salt is one of those rare places, especially as a vegetarian, where 5 stars doesn't seem to be enough. There should be... a sixth start available, only for the very best of the best restaurants...they'd even ask you "are you sure" when you selectedthe 6th star, just to make sure you weren't overusing it. Sorghum & Salt was a six stars experience for us. Especially asvegetarians at a non-vegetarian restaurant, to be so well taken care of with food that was perfect in its artful presentationand thoughtfully chef-curated taste. Lots of small plates/tapas places have a couple of dishes that shine. Everything we werebrought here was just as elevated as the one that came before, so it would be hard to pick a "favorite" or any one thing thatrose above the rest. They were all THAT good. We had almost every vegetarian option available including Chorizo Spiced Beets,Watermelon, Snap Peas, Little Gem Lettuce, Marsh Hill Rice Midlands, and Cheesecake. Don't let the simple names like"Watermelon" and "Snap Peas" fool you...these were not simply dishes with those ingredients on a plate, but really extraelevated complex tasting flavors with all the ingredients used to create the dishes. These dishes were among the, if not thevery best assembly of these ingredients we'd ever had. When we were talking with locals (including one woman who runs aculinary walking tour) about where we had eaten in town, when we mentioned "Sorghum & Salt" there was always a reverential "youdid good" response from them. We had a lot of great food in Charleston...nothing surpassed the 6 Stars nature of Sorghum & Salt. Now if they could just open up in our neighborhood in Southern California we'd be in very good shape. Oh my goodness!!!! This restaurant itself is a solid reason to visit Charleston. Forget about FIG, you should give yourself a... chance to try chef Tres Jackson food - farm to table, mind blowing combinations (cucumber and mussels, pea and white chocolate),amazing representation and good quality local products. We ordered tasting menu (6 courses, $80 ) and it was the best meal I hadin Charleston (despite visiting FIG day earlier). Now I have a reason to be back! Read more

Good service. Small place. We enjoyed the food. Nice presentation. I think it was a bit over priced for the serving sizes. We... had the ricotta with focaccia, carrots, midland rice, eggplant, short ribs, and for dessert we tried the beet as well ascheesecake. The crust on the cheesecake was delicious! Read more
