The food was amazing. The hostess was rude. The service was great. Had the Seared salmon and parmeasean risotto and added... salmon. It was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Topped it off with an Italian amaretto martini. Yummy! It was loud busyatmosphere. I came in with a broken ankle with a scooter and I was able to have enough room to move around. Read more

Very out of the Way small totally Authentic Italian Restaurant in Folly Beach. Go Early as in 5PM or be prepared to Wait... They... do not take reservations but they have an outdoor bar (tiny), great drinks and wine and it is pleasant this time of year towait. We sat at the outdoor bar(got there early) and it was as good Italian as we have had. My Italian husband was impressed!! Ihad the piscatore' which was incredible!! Portions are huge!! Our friends who took us are local and she had salmon and he hadscallops all fresh and wonderful!! the Chocolate cake (order early as they generally run out) is as decadent as it comes butsooooooooo good!!!! It is a loud inside so be prepared. It is casual, portions are large and be prepared to take some homeunless you are a big eater. Service is excellent especially by today's standards. Try not to spread the word too much or youwill never ger a table... Just kidding but definitely give it a try if you are in Charleston. Not but a 15 min drive fromdowntown. Read more

My Dear Foodie Friend and I recently had dinner at Mondo's, James Island, located on Folly Road. Our wait time was less than 20... minutes, during rush "dinner-time." Mondo's is a lively, casual eatery with a friendly staff sure to please the patrons. TheHouse was packed and folks waited just a short time to be seated. Rick was our waiter and without a doubt, the most friendly andattentive waiter I have encountered in quite some time. There was no rush, we were in no rush, and within ten minutes or less ofplacing our orders, out came the most crisp and fresh salad which contained an assortment of delectable vegetables with adazzling House dressing (not to mention beautiful and oh, so colorful) and their famous bread! Rick always checked in on us, ashe passed our table. Within 15 minutes after placing our entre order, the plates came out, piping hot and the presentation wasjust absolutely amazing! The blend of seasonings, the fresh ingredients, and the delectable taste of fresh basil, reminded us wewere in the absolutely finest Italian restaurant in Charleston. We savored every morsel and ended up asking for a "to-go" box. It's rare when you have leftovers and want to "savor" them the next day, just as you did the dinner! It was a fabulous diningexperience and we will definitely return for another very special treat. Mondo's, you rank ten stars in our book! Read more

We eat here fairly often. The best Italian on James Island and one of the best in the greater Charleston area. No reservations... so get here early or plan to wait a while. Limited outdoor seating but if the weather is good it?s very nice. Inside, it?spretty tame decor but clean and well spaced. Not too loud when full but certainly not on the quiet side. Menu is fairly broad sothere is something for everyone and the prices are reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food delivered. This is avery good restaurants and we give it 4.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale. Read more

This was our first time at Mondo?s and boy were we satisfied. The food was absolutely fabulous! We started with the caprese app,... with their bread then my husband had the Italian sausage lasagna with a meatball and I had the manicotti with blackened chickenthen we finished it off with tiramisu for dessert. We are so happy with our choices and our waiter was a big help, thank youJacob! We will be back! Read more

We were originally told about Mondo's by Andrea, or VRBO host. She highly recommended it, and me being a lover of all things... pasta, it was a must try. We mentioned it in passing to a few people during conversation while we were taking in this beautifularea, and everyone agreed that it was a must eat. We arrived around 5:15, and immediately saw the sign stating that were shortstaffed and dining seating was limited, however, we were greeted by the hostess and told there was a 10 minute wait. We wentoutside to the small bar area, and were immediately greeted by the attentive bartender. Placed our drink order and about halfway through our drinks, the very pleasant hostess came to get us. We were sat, and Laurie (I hope I got this is correct) cameover for drink orders immediately. We placed our orders, and within a few minutes she was back and ready for our appetizerorder. She brought bread out in between the artichokes and arachini balls we ordered as appetizers, and it was fresh and tasty. And let me tell you, the appetizers OMG!! We then placed out dinner order. I ordered gnocchi, roasted mushroom, and switchedthe fried chicken for the blackened chicken. My fiance (tomorrow, he will be my husband), ordered the baked manicotti. When Itell you that the first bite of my meal was pure heaven. ... I saw and heard angels. The flavors in my dish!!! Incredible. Myfiance manicotti was also amazing. We followed it up with the cherry amaretto Gelato, so amazingly good. We left with enoughleftover for tomorrow nights dinner. Our waitress was so attentive, sweet, and helpful. I wish we were here longer. Thankyou for an excellent pre-wedding night dinner. Read more

Best manicotti I have had in my life. Ever. I have eaten alot of italian over the past 20 years and the food here was top notch.... They allow you to pick what sauce you want with your meals as it is all made to order and not pre made. The mussels were amazingalso. Read more

Loved it, and will be back to try the other entree's! It's kind of in an unassuming spot on Folly road, but well worth the stop.... It was a little loud inside, not ideal for a quiet date, but it did seem quiet and intimate of you dine outside. All of the foodwas amazing, and very reasonably priced! Great wine selection with fair prices. Our service was great, and very helpful. Theonly thing I was slightly disappointed with was that one of our orders came out wrong, and our server didn't seem veryapologetic, but she was still friendly and great. Read more
