Great vibe!! Awesome food. The certified BBQ judge in me found tremendous meat, phenomenal smoke flavor, very unique sauces, and... wonderful sides. This is a must try when you're in Charleston. Oh, brisket queso is amazing. The three meat sandwich amazing.Sauce variety is unique and incredible, including a Green Chile BBQ Sauce that is the most perfectly unique sauce I have everhad. They trim their briskets for even predictable cooking and use the trimmed brisket to make in their fresh ground sausagelinks that are also then smoked to perfection! Following my meal, I asked for a pit tour, and the wonderful general managertook us back to their very unique and extremely impressive smokehouse and showed me how they can move so much perfectly smokedfood in a day, and keep a perfectly consistent food quality. Their staffing, training and techniques are very unique and theyknow how to run a very customer and consumer oriented business. Read more

Wow, if you?re looking for BBQ near downtown Charleston, look no further than Lewis BBQ. Texas style BBQ, hands down some of the... best bbq I?ve had. You order meat by the pound and sides are a flat rate. I wanted to try everything so I got brisket, pulledpork, and a cheddar hatch chili sausage. For sides I got Mac & cheese and the potato fries. I had leftovers for days. Everythingwas out of this world delicious. I will be back to Lewis next time I?m in Charleston! Read more

We read that the lines here can get pretty long, so in an attempt to beat the lunch rush, my friends and I went shortly after it... opened, at around 11:15 on a Monday. There were already a few people dining there and after we sat down to eat, the line wasalready starting form and it wasn't even noon yet. You order at the counter, pick a table, and someone will come lay some paperson your table and clean up for you when you?re done. You can order as much or as little as you want since they go by weight. Ireally liked that because we each just wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we literally just got 3 slices of brisket, two ribs, the Texas hot gut sausage, green chili corn pudding, and some collard greens. The meats come with sides of pickles andpickled onions. My favorite was the brisket. It was so tender. The pickles also really help cut some of the smokiness. I wasn'ta huge fan of the pudding but I think it was more of a texture thing for me. There are three types of sauces you can helpyourself too and I think I remember the green one being my favorite. Definitely recommend if you are looking for some goodbarbecue in Charleston! Read more

Lewis is the bomb! We 1st tried the other celebrated BBQ place, but everyone preferred Lewis BBQ beef brisket & pork spareribs.... Their nachos are good too. There's a line before you order then after you can get a table inside or out. The outdoor seatinghad a really nice ambiance. Love it! Read more

I'm pretty sure I used to be a T-Rex in my past life, so that makes it hard for me not to over eat during every visit. "Bias... Alert" I enjoy the smell, look and taste of smoked meat, so I love this place. The menu selection aligns with most seriousbarbecue spots. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is on gravel so wheelchair access will require someenergy. The bathrooms have been consistently clean on my more than 10 visits. Not a beer drinker but it's served here and itseems like people enjoy it. Fountain drinks are also available. There's limited parking in the restaurant parking lot butthere's additional parking a very short walk away from the restaurant. Timing matters here, call to get a feel for how long await you might have. ???? Read more

FINALLY, I have found fantastic brisket!!! Lewis BBQ not only does brisket well, they do EVERYTHING well. The pork--awesome. The... sausage--amazing. The sides--so good. There is a lot of seating, but most of it being outside. Parking is limited. Staffefficient but not necessarily overly friendly, but that didn't deter from a great overall experience. Probably the best BBQ I'veever had. We were in town for a week and ate at Lewis BBQ twice. Definitely recommend. We went on a Friday at around 4pm beforethe dinner rush. It was a great time to go. Stopped by because I saw Eater listed their Beef & Cheddar Sandwich on a national best of 2021 list. It wasn't served when I... visited. But I was happy with what the two of us split. Average: Potato salad Good: Green Chile corn pudding, slicedbrisket Great: Coleslaw, Hot guts sausage link (nicely smokey, and one $5 link is big!), Short Rib (available Sat only, as Ivisited on a Sat, and check out that massive rib - - that was the smallest available portion).
