My new favorite cafe. Full stop. I only wish I lived close enough to go everyday. The food is thoughtful, well-crafted and... delicious. The surroundings have the charm you'd imagine Charleston should have -- every detail is considered -- you feeltransported into a culinary fairytale. The staff is warm, friendly and kind. Read more

Harken continues to top my personal list of best coffee shops/bakeries in Charleston! Every time I walk in the door I am warmly... greeted and surrounded by beauty and thoughtful design everywhere I look. I love all the vintage decor and trailing plants. Thebakery case is filled with delicious baked goods to thrill your taste buds (each one carefully labeled if it happens to begluten-free, vegan, etc.). The cookies are enormous and so delicious! As to the coffee, we have loved everything we've tried. Most recently I ordered the spiced vanilla latte with oat milk, over ice. And my spouse ordered a red eye. Can't wait until thenext time we return to Harken!! Read more

My husband and I spent the weekend in Charleston for our anniversary and found The Harken Cafe while walking around. It was SO... good! I don?t normally like coffee but we ordered a vanilla caramel iced latte and it was the best coffee I have ever had! Socreamy! We also ordered two food items that were very good and not usually something I would order but glad I did. Everythingtastes as good as it looks! Will definitely be stopping by every time we are in the area. Read more

My friend and I went here every morning while in Charleston and just enjoyed it so much! Loved the decor and friendly service. ... The coffee cake with avocado cream cheese was fantastic!! You don't taste the avocado at all and the cake itself wasn't overlysweet, it was truly the best coffee cake I've had. The Spiced Vanilla Latte was also great! Read more

The pastries and food here are so great!! Their biscuits are one of the best I've ever had. They have interesting drinks- which... are yummy too. The interior design is so pretty for photos, perfect for those who want to have nice food pictures. Read more

Overall: Quaint yet sophisticated, with delicious sweets and drinks. The good: Two of the three baked goods we got were... outstanding. A chocolately "cinnamon roll" made with sweet potato was a surprise hit, with our favorite being a spring-likeglazed orange loaf, filled with bits of apricot and pine nuts(?). They routinely change, and I can't remember their names. Thetreats themselves are large and definitely baked day-of, so there's no need to worry about the freshness. The decor speaks foritself - every corner of the restaurant blends together to create a warm, cozy feeling. There's an extreme attention to detail(in a good way), from major design choices like the orange espresso machine and exposed brick, to the tiniest of details like atwine bow on a book near the window. Service was friendly and prices are reasonable. The not-so-good: The matcha chocolate chipmuffin was dry and didn't have enough chocolate chips in it. The aforementioned "cinnamon roll" we got would have been twice asgood if it was heated up first (they wouldn't let us have it heated after we took a bite, understandably). Had to wait in thelong line to pay for a coffee refill (half price). Limited seating is both a pro (exclusivity) and a con (we had to wait forseats inside). Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Read more

I am so glad we stopped in here to get something to eat. They had gluten and vegan friendly options. I tried the salad bowl with... a variety of 5 salads. All 5 were fresh, healthy and very satisfying. I also tried a gluten free chocolate cookie and it wasdelicious. I also loved the army! Read more

Charming is the only word. Coffee is excellent (They serve Methodical). Service is capable and kind. From the mosaic in the... entryway to the playing card numbers for your table, to the bathroom lined with book illustrations, the decor is quaint, classyand perfectly Charleston. Our butter lettuce salad and baguette sándwich were absolutely delicious and clearly fresh. Theflatware and dishes were unique. Our toast with compote was perfectly balanced and topped with edible flowers. This is ourfavourite hang. Read more
