I do not normally write reviews, if there is an issue, I'll sometimes email a business when something is off that i know maybe... just needs some training. I've had my own small cafe and catering business, so I know how things go. However this was such adisappointment I felt compelled to write this. We went for a late dinner during our anniversary trip and it was honestly one ofthe worst meals we've had. Neither of us finished our food, my plate was almost full except 2 shrimp, we each tried 1, and hubbyate the bell peppers off of my shrimp and grits. There was zero development of flavor, the shrimp tasted like plain shrimpboiled in unsalted water and thrown on top of plain grits with a bland sauce poured over the top with blanched onions and bellpeppers thrown on top of that. My husband's ceviche was mostly lettuce and liquid. He ordered a beer and the keg blew, theycouldn't get the keg changed so he didn't get a beer. Hopefully they took it off the check, I didn't look when he paid I was soshocked by how bad everything was after it had been recommended by the hotel with the statement we don't just recommend itbecause it's close. When the server came to see if we wanted dessert even though we hadn't eaten our food she didn't ask howthings were which to me is an indicator that she knows it's bad. I know it was late, 45 minutes before closing, but that's noexcuse for the food. I should have taken photos of all the lettuce in the ceviche! Read more

The restaurant was a little hard to find at first, because it’s in an alley, but it was so worth it. The food was delicious,... and the service was prompt and pleasant. We had reservations, and were seated right away. Get the Southern Peach Mule and Shrimp& Stone Ground Grits. The shrimp are huge and fresh, and the Southern Peach Mule kicks you in the right spot! 7 of us were in town for a girls’ weekend. The Coast was in a great location and a fun casual atmosphere. We started with a... few drinks. The peach mule was good. The old fashioned sounded a little more cherry but it was pretty much a normal oldfashioned. The mussels appetizer was outstanding. They were cooked properly with a very flavorful garlic white wine butterbroth. Lots of garlic. It didn’t come with any bread or crostinis which surprised me so I had to ask. The wedge salad waspretty basic. The blue cheese dressing was very good. The crab soup was very tasty with good crab flavor. The scallop appetizerwas small but good. Everyone who ordered salmon (in different ways) said it was cooked well and good grilled flavor. The servicewas very good! Great place for a friends get-together! Read more

I had a really fun meal at Coast. The server staff were super pleasant and kept the cocktails flowing. Nicely done Old... Fashion. The drum fish with shrooms made me want to lick the plate. There is a generally fun atmosphere and a friendly crowd. Read more

I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. We made reservations for dinner on my birthday. My mother, who has a pepper... allergy, chose this restaurant as it was highly praised and named one of the best seafood restaurants in the city. Never in my30+ years have I seen a chef come out of the kitchen to talk to her about her allergy. He wanted to know what kinds of peppers, the severity to ensure everything was cleaned down very well and created a plan with her at the table for the best way to makeher meal. I was impressed beyond words by Coast's professionalism and how seriously they took her allergy. The food wasincredible. You can smell the wood fire grill the moment you walk in the door. The shrimp and grits were classic and thejambalaya was a full of spice and flavor. Read more

This restaurant was close to our hotel. That's the only reason we went in there. SO GLAD we found this place! Amazing food!! I... had the braised drum which is a light white fish over cheese grits with truffle sauce that was to die for!!! I think it may bethe best sauce I've ever eaten on a plate. My husband had the spicy blackened swordfish. Also super delicious!!! Sorry wecouldn't have gone back but if I'm ever in Charleston again, I'm definitely going to eat here again!! Read more

A charming restaurant downtown Charleston. Made a reservation but still had to wait about 10 mins for a table. Our waitress was... friendly and provided great service. A very busy restaurant so reservations are highly recommended. The food was good and cookedwell & grilled options are actually grilled. Great options on the menu and good pricing for the customers. Will look to try thisrestaurant again in the future. Read more
