We have been coming here since Bodega opened and have never been disappointed. The food has been great every time, my favorite... sandwich is the Cow or the Egg & Cheese. Pre-pregnancy, Bodega had one of my favorite Bloody Mary?s in the area. The service hasnever been an issue, even when they are busy on weekends/mornings. I stepped in for a comedy show on a Tuesday night and had the sheer pleasure of enjoying a Truffle Burger. Good lord in heaven,... it was divine! Especially with red wine! The house made chips are worth finding the parking. The comedy show was the bomb.comtoo! I love a chance to see some of Charleston?s local laugh icons like Shawna Jarrett, Jon Antione, Hagan Ragland, and Ms. ErinLok! Wow!! Definitely top 3 sandwich I have had in Charleston! Go check them out, pictures of the Arthur Ave sandwich, my girlfriend... got the cow breakfast sandwich and the bread was perfect! If you like breakfast sandwiches, Bodega is the bomb! One of the best breakfast sandwiches my wife and I have ever had. We... both ordered the Cow which is a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a fresh hard roll with home fries! The bread is baked freshdaily, they use quality ingredients like Nueske?s bacon, which is cooked very crisp, locally sourced eggs and the home fries areseasoned to perfection! This sandwich is just heavenly! Chef Alec Gropman is a genius and continues to innovate withinteresting culinary creations! If you plan to visit Charleston, Bodega is a must! Read more
Friendly staff, we were seated outside right away and shortly after being seated our waitress came and we ordered 2 teas and 2... sandwiches and 1 side of chips. However, we were waiting over an hour for 2 sandwiches ????. We did notice that the waitressesand servers had no problem zooming past us to serve alcoholic beverages to the tables nearby. And I must admit, we were not theonly table waiting for such a long time because everyone else's table had at least a couple of drink glasses but no food. Ieventually walked inside for the restroom and I expected it to be slammed packed and busy to justify our long wait, but to mysurprise there were only a few people seated inside. So we're still confused on what was the hold-up and long wait for ????.Overall, I would give 2 * simply because the server was polite and we still decided to tip her well but the sandwich was mediocre at best and the chips were stale. Definitely was not the $60 we paid for 2 teas, 2 sandwiches, 1 order of chips andtip. Maybe this place should just be a bar only... or, maybe they were smart enough to know that when customers are drunkenough then they won't know how bad the food and service is... fortunately for us, we don't drink alcohol and don't feel theneed to go back.
