Nestled in downtown Charles Town, this is a cozy brewery with a good variety of beers, plus a few ciders and local wines. The... 5-beer flight in the West Virginia board is a good bet, and you can sit inside or out. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable,and the clean restrooms even have music. This weekend we stayed in Charles Town and decided to stop in and get some flights from the Abolitionist Ale Works. What a... fantastic selection of beers and some ciders too. My girlfriend enjoyed about 80% of the selections we picked.. Great Flavor,excellent levels of alcohol content and we like they serve their flights in their own glassware which is fantastic.. LargeServing sizes for their flights too.. The place is small, if you sit at a table you have to order from the bar area.. I go here for an after-work beer or to enjoy time with both local and out-of-town friends. I like to try different things and... it's a good place to try weird beers. To be honest, some of the beers I've tried haven't been to my taste, but trying them allhas helped me discover what my taste _is_, so that's great. Turns out I like really really sour beer, and they always have atleast one. The food menu is built around white bread: pizza, sandwiches, and pretzels. Read more

Stopped to try this place out while on a road trip from Delaware. Really cool location in downtown Charlestown WV. They have... both indoor and outdoor seating available. The location, service, and food are all excellent! The beer is average. Itconsistently smells better than it tastes. That being said, the brewery is still a great place to visit for it's otherqualities. Check it out! Read more
