Probably my favorite spot to take first time Chapel Hill visitors to, for the views and the ambience - TOPO feels like the... center of Franklin St sometimes. But not just for that! The food is great, and the menu is always evolving. They have plenty ofveggie options and the appetizers are killer - the lizard chips (fried pickles and jalapeños) and the sweet potato waffle frieswith pepper jelly and cream cheese are faves. Great spot, a little hard to find on the 3rd floor (go up the stairs to a plain door and go in). I had the turkey sandwich and... added bacon. It came with banana peppers, onions, and mayo I think. Top of the Hill! I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed myself here!! Our server was Cesare and he was so friendly and kind... and very accommodating with great recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing. The ?thumbs and toes? was probably the bestbbq chicken chunks I?ve ever had. And luckily we came in when their special of the day was true bbq brisket sandwich topped withcole slaw. It was so good that I cannot believe it?s not a menu staple. My God. We even ordered an extra side of brisket justbecause it was so tender and juicy. I really enjoyed the salmon bowl! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. It's possible they have a kids menu but I didn't see... it on their website or when I scanned the code at the restaurant. There were a couple kids there when we visited. The menu weviewed was definitely for the mature palate. We are here on a Saturday around 1pm. It was busy but not overcrowded. This was our first visit to TOPO and it did not disappoint! Delicious food, great staff and beautiful view. The drinks were... perfect and I cannot rave enough about the risotto with fried salmon and the rolls!!! Mouth watering, we will definitely be backfor more. I had a blast last night at Top of the Hill off Franklin! Or maybe it was my date? ???? To start the night off, we order two... fabulous Patron shots (with salt on the rim, of course). We then proceeded to order coke n? rum (well-prepared) in addition to afancy alcoholic beverage. One of the bartenders designed it himself. I don?t recall the name- it contained coffee, chocolate,whipped cream in addition to other constituents (sorry, no cherry on top). It was fantastic! ???? For entrées, I selected theFrench Quarter Jambalaya. Pretty good! I was able to have a sample of my date?s dish, the Topo Whiskey & Coke Braised Beef. Thatone was very good! The scenery and vibe of the restaurant is great!!. The food is average. We personally weren't over the moon like, omg this is... the best chicken or appitizer or dessert. It really was average. Not horrible, not great. We were seated by the hostess andafter being seated for a good while, waiting patiently, like 12 to 15 minutes. Then a waitress approached us explaining how themangers wife was a couple tables over and she had to make sure she talked to her and they got carried away in conversation. Read more
