Had some great food here during a business meeting, the waiter was very accommodating and the food came out quickly considering... the size of our party. Appetizers here are great, I had the steak rolls and some spinach dip. The main course was a delicious,medium rare steak. I recently visited for the first time for lunch. The inside is spacious and nice, kind of a throwback to the fine dining... restaurants my parents took us to on very special occasions. The quality of the food is very good - my companions had chickentenders and chicken biscuits. The plain biscuits are absolutely delicious. There are limited vegetarian options. However, theyare flexible and customized a few things for me, which I really appreciate. The salad greens could be a little better in myopinion, but the dressings are very good and I recommend getting them on the side because of the quantity. The seared tuna wasvery good. Alert: If you have food ALLERGIES or food sensitivities please be cautious when ordering. Two of the waitstaff were not trained... to ask/clarify whether there were specific ingredients in a menu item. This was a factor in the 2-star review. It is clearly atraining and management issue. I'll begin with all the wonderful things about Stoney River in Chapel Hill, NC. It is easy tomake reservations, and the staff is friendly, engaging, and accommodating. The restaurant had a high sanitation score andappeared very clean. The staff adhered to mask wearing and clearly had a Covid protocol in place. The steaks were perfectlyprepared, the food was beautifully adorned and plated, and the seasonings were on point. The carrot cake was enormous, a veryhigh value and the best I have ever eaten! I wish I could have given you a much higher score. We had dinner with friends, andone of them is not able to have wheat. Upon ordering she asked our server if there was gluten/wheat in the blue cheese toppingfor her steak, the answer was "no". When the food runner delivered the meal, she confirmed and asked "Are you sure there is nogluten or wheat?" The response was "No, it is just cheese." There was in fact, panko in the item. Before we left, she wasexperiencing symptoms. I do not hold the server or food runner accountable, this is a management/ training issue andwheat/gluten and dairy dietary issues are common enough that others are probably suffering due to a lack of knowledge and carein regards to knowing the menu. It could have been easily avoided and given the high caliber of everything else, one would haveexpected more. Read more

We went on a Sunday so I thought for sure there would be a wait but we were seated immediately. Customer service was good. We... order the steak rolls for the appetizer. They were so good I got an extra order to go. The deviled eggs just ok. Was expectingmore because of the other reviews but not quite my cup of tea. My steak was very good. I got creamed spinach & potatoes to gowith it. The potato portion was a bit smaller than anticipated but there was a nice portion of spinach. You only get 1 side butI paid for the extra side. We did have chocolate cake that was fantastic. It was large enough to share between 4 people. Willdefinitely be back. Read more

Stoney River came highly recommended, and is a wonderful place to spend an evening with friends! The enormous wine selection is... showcased in the middle of the restaurant in a glass walled closet for our viewing pleasure. Each course is beautifully plated,and equally matched in taste. The steak was savory and tender. The fresh creamed spinach was so cheesy and flavorful. The carrotcake is densely rich, full of pecans and fresh carrots. It has a light creamy frosting drizzled with a light caramel sauce. Theslice is large enough to share with two or three people! The dimly lit atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. My server, Geoff, is aperceptive listener and very knowledgeable. He suggested the perfect drink for my taste. Go enjoy an evening and do yourself afavor: make sure to ask for Geoff.
