Reviews for Kurama Sushi & Noodle Express in Chapel Hill, NC
Supper cute place! Food is absolutely delicious and great price! The food is quick but so fresh! Glad I found this little gem.
Wonderful, fresh sushi with equally wonderful prices. I work a few minutes down the road from Kurama and I try to go at least... once a week. Great price ranges for students, and I really enjoy the quality of the fish and rice. Try the ginger salad whileyou're there as well! Read more
I eat here a lot since the location is so convenient, and while they get pretty busy sometimes, I've never had a bad experience.... Prices are fantastic, food is great, and service is always polite, even if they can't get to you right away. The trick is justto avoid the meal rushes :) Read more
WARNING: If you have a fragile immune system please stay away from this restaurant for the sake of your own health. Service was... the best part of my experience here. The waitress was polite and attentive. Food was painfully dull however, Almost no wowfactor in flavor. I had the Udon and Eel rolls and I wasn't expecting much and still was disappointed. The fish stock in theudon was incredibly generic also instant packet quality. I could not detect any deep flavors at all associated with at leastreal fish stock. Eel rolls were ok. Just painfully ok. My deepest concern for this place is the 100.00 Sanitation Score. Thehighest score a place can reasonably make is 98-99 simply because it's impossible to make a restaurant completely sterile unlessits newly constructed which it clearly isnt. This establishment either paid off someone or had someone who literally didn't careabout their job. Both are deeply troubling. The bathrooms were... disgusting. It was like teleported into the most god forsakenplaces of New York's Subway Systems. There was vulgar writing on the wall, the toilet seats underside had hardened stains whichtells me it had not been cleaned in hours. The smell was equally repulsive. Had I visited the bathroom first like I normallywould have, I would have left immediately. There are zero excuses for an establishment that wants to take itself seriously wouldever let their bathrooms become this neglected. On this alone this restaurant should be considered a health hazard for anyonewith a fragile immune system. I have forwarded my concerns with the North Carolina Sanitation Department. Read more
We?ve been coming here since we moved to Chapel Hill 13 years ago. The staff is very friendly and the sushi is delicious, plenty... of vegan rolls and salads. The prices have really gone up over the past year (as with everything I suppose) but this has alwaysbeen a super affordable place to eat with our kids. Read more
This was my first time eating sushi. I ordered the Vegetable Crunchy Roll (8 pc of sushi) and asked to make it real spicy. The... sushi itself tasted great, but it wasn't spicy at all, and I don't think that it was because of my spice tolerance. I alsoordered the Vegetable Spring Rolls, which were really yummy. They were warm but not too hot and tasted better than your averageChinese takeout spring roll. What it lacked, it made up in the price. Very good value for food you get compared to price. A LOTof other sushi places are double some of these prices. The waiter also was very nice and helpful in deciding what toget. Overall, if you like sushi then you should definitely give this place a try. If you haven't ever had sushi then what areyou waiting for? Go try some! Read more
Awesome curry don and curry udon. Curry is Japanese styled like comfort food. Sushi might not be the best but are affordable and... consistent. Has a kaiten sushi wheel. Wish there are more varieties of rice bowls. Service is great and all the stuff areextremely nice. Also they have very cute tea pots and tea cups if you want hot water or hot tea. Read more
