Okay, so I?ve been driving around and living near this restaurant for a while. Today, I had a taste for some good ole fashioned... soul food, like grandma use to make back in South Carolina! 1) They put no meat in the greens or cabbage?it tastes better. 2)The rib plate??with potatoes salad?..FIRED MY GRANDMOTHER FROM COOKING! 3) The love and interpersonal feeling you get when youwalk in the door. I felt like I?d known the family since since I was a child. They?re amazing people with lots of love that theyshare with all patrons through their conversations, interactions and food! Best restaurant I?ve eaten from in the entireMidwest! Best people I?ve met here as well. That says a lot beings I was brought up in Southern Hospitality. They?ve got thesauce?..no smoke! Good ingredients. Poor execution. We ordered food for 5 while the restaurant was almost empty, and a lot was missing from the... order. That didn?t bother us because the lady got on the missing items quickly. But what did bother me is that the jerk chickenwas pretty dry?I don?t think they brine/marinade?and there was a lot of really sweet bbq sauce on my fries. The overallimpression I got is that they have good ingredients and they care about food but the chef seemed too overwhelmed and the tasteswhere just not up to what they could be. It feels like they should either hire some trained chef to help get their house inorder or maybe revert their business model to just selling bbq meats to go. My wife basically cleaned up all the sauce and madeother meals with their meat and it turned out really good. Read more
Very family oriented! We had chicken legs, wings, hot links, rib tips, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. All of which were... delicious. I highly recommend having lunch here. They were absolutely great with my kids. Thank you for the great food and greatservice. God bless ???? Read more

This is an amazing black owned business with awesome food and service. I came in for the first time today and so glad I did!!... The jerk rib tips hit the spot, even got my mom a Togo plate!! I saw the fish come out and it looked amazing as well, willdefinitely try the fish next time. Do yourself a favor and check these folks out! Read more
Move over BD, there's a new pit in town! They are doing it right at Wood N' Hog in Champaign. I got the large BBQ tips with... fries and their mixed sauce. Once I took my first bite I forgot all about getting a picture! ???? Just means I'm going to haveto go back and try again! Anyone who's read my reviews knows I'm about cleanliness and Mike and his gang got that on lock down.Portions were big and the meat was perfect. Good smoke, juicy, and tender. Sauce was good as well but I felt it lacked the heatI was expecting so I'll kick that up next time. ???? My friend got the pulled chicken sandwich special which quickly tookpriority over our conversation, lol. There wasn't a crumb left I noticed. BONUS: The OWNER, Mike, came over asked us how it wasand how do we feel it could be improved! (I know, right?!) This is someone who cares and cherishes the customer experience andit shows. I absolutely love this place! I get the turkey tips every time I come and they have never disappointed. Today, I got the chicken... wings and mac and cheese. I tried the mac and cheese a while ago and I was not impressed. My sister in law said it was theabsolute best so I decided to give it another go. Man, I'm so glad I did! It was absolutely and the cheese wasn't overpowering.The chicken wings were delicious as well, but had a little too much sauce to my liking. Next time I'll get it on the side. We were in town for a mini vacation and had a craving for some pulled pork sandwiches. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the... super friendly staff. They made us feel very welcomed. The pulled pork was the most tender and juicy we have ever had. Don't getme started on the macaroni and cheese????. It was so creamy and delicious. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.
