Reviews for Sweet Basil Cafe of Champaign in Champaign, IL
The food was good, but a little bit under-seasoned. The portions were large, the environment was comfortable and quiet. I will... be back. Read more
We dined in on Saturday about 2pm. We were seated by a young hostess that was lounging in one of the booths on her phone when we... came in. She sat us directly across from the bathroom that had just been mopped and smelled so bad of chemicals that we had tomove. Our server was pretty good but also had problems getting off of her phone and was congregating with the manager and mostof the other wait staff at the front booths. One girl was lounged with her feet up. The manager was either on her phone, on adirect line phone or relaxing in the booth talking with everyone else. She got up a couple of times to yell that another girlget on the phone. One waitress was very busy and there were other customers but our waitress and the very blonde middle aged guywho was just lounging in the booths seemed to care more about chatting than helping people. We enjoyed the food, but theatmosphere was really odd. The manager needs to act like a manager and not a teenage girl and they might want to get a hostessthat has a clue how to have a conversation with the customers or at least appear friendly and not put out that she has to getoff her phone to seat people or ring up their bill. Fresh and affordable however Food needs some seasoning and I had a big glob of cheese in the middle of my omelette lol; I loved... the platter size pancakes and they were very tasty! The chicken strips were good, and the staff was pleasant and helpful Read more
It wasn't for me. Although portion sizes were good, all the food was lukewarm/cold. There also wasn't an iota of seasoning on... any of the food at all. The chicken was cooked really well but had absolutely no flavor (bland gravy is not a seasoning) and thedressing tasted like bread pudding with raisins. The chopped steak was huge but desert dry and not seasoned. The hash brownswere cold. The pancakes humongous but also lukewarm. They were fluffy and tasty for being cold. The tuxedo cake, although servedupside down at first, was good. The service was nice, but not the food. $46.26 was the bill. Read more

I would gave no stars if I could. The crepe is literally the thickest crepe in the world. The omelet is completely dry, over... done. I would rather pay 5.5 for a latte in starbuck but no here. There are over number of staff and everyone doesn?t know whatto do. This place is the worst brunch place in town. And we pay 49 for 2 people for it. Read more
