Reviews for El Paraiso | Mexican Bar & Grill in Cedar Rapids, IA
The last two times I have gone to El Paraiso my food has been amazing but my service has been terrible. Our waitress never... checked on us once we got our food, never came to refill our drinks, and we had to ask a woman who was clearing tables for ourchecks and to go boxes. Many of the wait staff were on their phones or congregating by the bar. We weren't the only tablelooking around for their wait staff. My bill alone was nearly $50. I had a mango margarita and ceviche which was fantastic. Ihave waited tables before and I understand there is a shortage of help, but this was just unacceptable tonight. There wereplenty of people working, no excuse for the poor service. Next time (if there is one) my order will be to go. I met three of myclosest friends there because I love the food and none of them said they'd be back. If you have the time and patience to eatthere, the food is really good. Read more
I went in a large group and got several marg towers. The place was fun. I ordered tacos and they were fantastic. It did take a... decent amount of time to get our food though. All in all I had a good time and the food and drinks were good. Read more

We have only been here twice. The food was excellent both times. The first time, we ordered a large beer, this time we ordered a... medium sized margarita. I was shocked when I got the check. Medium Margaritas are 16.99 each. That is totally ridiculous! Thatwas more than we paid for our entrees. Read more
Sat out on the patio which could use a little more love. Music, outdoor fans would be a step in the right direction. Wait staff... were friendly & prompt. Ordered pollo con arroz & a Paloma to drink. Food came out quick! Delicious!!! The chicken was veryseasoned and juicy. The Paloma had so much flavor but was a little too sweet for my taste but still tasted good. Prices are onthe higher side compared to other local Mexican cuisine but overall great food & drinks. Read more
Went for lunch with 2 boys and my sister. She had a craving for Mexican and she hadn't been there in awhile. It was about $14... per person minimum. Went on Saturday so no lunch specials... I had the 5 enchiladas burger cheese chicken and beef tips. Thebeef tips were good. They're marinated in tomato and onion sauce. One son had the chimichangas. We were almost the first groupthere for lunch. Quiet. too... quiet. anyway last time I'd been there the overhead music was so loud I could hardly hear mywife. So it was different this time. Good. About 15 minutes after we got there someone turned on the music. Yep it was loud.Maybe they turned it down later maybe my hearing is better now but I could later hear my family talking. I liked my enchiladas.Thought I'd take some home for leftovers by my stomach said otherwise so those are gone. Kids took leftovers home. Ok place. Notmy favorite but ok. Read more

Awkward and "expensive." I was accompanied with my finance for our 2nd year anniversary of being together. No music whatsoever.... Asked about using the juice box there and the employee acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. Way too quietbesides there being a game on. The best thing was the margaritas. The waitress was nice, but the food took forever to comethough. It wasn't busy by any means. Read more
