Reviews for Delhicacy in Cedar Rapids, IA
I will reserve 5 stars for repeat visits. We were hesitant because my daughter had visited previously and the service was very... slow (though they warned them they were short staffed that evening so....) This was my first visit and as a life long Indianfood lover I must say it is now easily my favorite Indian food in Cedar Rapids and IC. We ordered the perennial Butter Chickenand the chicken Tikka kabobs. Yes, nothing too adventurous this visit (though we're not averse to that, we are an ethnicfamily). Out of the numerous Butter Chickens I've had (including home made...I keep a decent Indian spice supply) this is myfavorite. They are using much more tomato than typical which gives it a more complex flavor. I don't order Butter Chickenbecause I like to try different things, but this is something I would order. The Tikka kabobs were very tasty. They werecomplimented well by the mint chutney which was just right. My only critique would be that I would have liked it even more withdark meat (but I know that is not what most Americans want) and MORE onions please! Naan was good as was the rice. Excellentmango lassi. And finally, a place with at least some effort in atmosphere. Some decorations, actual Indian musicplaying......it makes a difference. We are going back. Good service too.....please keep it up. So many places are hit andmiss, keep up the hits. Read more
Food for the most part was phenomenal. The rice was slightly over cooked but was still really good. We got the kebab platter and... paid extra for the sharing extra plate option. What was depicted in the picture looked a lot bigger than what was given to us.The proportions were small and did not justify the hefty $23 for chicken and rice and salad. Over priced for small portions butwas tastefully delicious Read more
Loved the atmosphere and along with the delicious food and drinks! The mango margarita was delicious and my girls loved the... rice and naan (we are working up to curry ????). My husband and I enjoyed the thali platter and an appetizer. Can’t wait totry more things Read more
Delicious! We'll go back for sure. The Thali platter allows you to sample a variety of dishes. My friend ordered chicken curry,... my husband chicken kebab. We enjoyed it. Flavors ranged from smokey to curries with depth. Service was good even though theywere short-staffed. Negatives: The chicken in my curry was dry and hard. They skimp on rice, and I found the Naan to be cold andlimp. Medium heat means spicy (I like some heat). The mano margarita was too chunky for a blended drink. Floor under raised bedswas not very clean and booth seats are stained. Read more
We waited for quite some time before we visited due to having to make reservations, and with family, we wanted to be able to... drop in. It was worth the wait to have wonderful Indian food! Restaurant Layout/Vibe Rating - 5 Stars We love the layout ofthis location. It's open with different varieties of seating. Traditional sit-down seating, booths, tables. I loved thatindividual booths had location names like Mumbai, for instance. Once you have seated yourself, the waiter will check in to seewhat drinks you would like for the table. From that point, you use the QR code on your table (Cardboard popup) to open up a taband place your orders. Throughout the meal, I added drinks by going back to that tab that was open and adding newdrinks. Customer Service Rating - 5 Stars I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of service. When we initially sat down, Isaw only two waiters. However, our speed of service was incredible with the QR code ordering method and a button that you canpush at any time to request assistance. I would go as far as to say the speed was faster than a fully staffed restaurant withmultiple waiters taking multiple tables. Food Rating - 4 Stars The food was quite excellent. I gave the food 4 stars and wasnot due to taste, but spice. I love spicy food. However, our children don't have the same spice level as me, and even on themildest option, some food was a bit spicy for them. They love eating jalapeños so that it gives you some idea of the spicelevel. Appetizer - 4 Stars I ordered street tacos and Naan. They were both fantastic, and I would defiantly order them again. The street tacos were loaded with large chunks of chicken and tasted much like butter chicken. Main Course - 5 Stars For ourmain course, we tried a variety, and you can see some of them in the pictures below. I loved the Tiki masala and Eggplant dishwe ordered. Delicious! Drinks - 5 Stars The drinks I ordered were strong and made correctly. Great job! We will be visiti Read more
Love this place! ???? My husband and I ordered this platter to share and it was so fun trying everything. The pakoras with... cilantro mint and tamarind sauces were amazing! The chef is truly talented and her husband patiently answered our questionsregarding the menu. Our server was great, the decor is fun and relaxing. We can't wait to go back and take our friends andfamily with us! Read more
Everything about this place is wonderful! The food was quick and super flavorful! Got the traditional chicken curry which comes... medium spicy - well described and big portions! Husband got the chilli chicken which seemed to be a mix of an Indian/Asian dishin a hot red sauce. Try that one if you like fiery Asian food and aren't sure what to get! I really appreciated the simple butbeautiful presentation of the food. Surprisingly my least favorite part was the garlic naan, the garlic didn't stand out andusually I'd scarf down naan. They have completely redone the place from how it was as a taco place and it's beautiful inside.Would be a nice place to take a date for a moderately priced meal. The curtained booths add a little privacy to chat. Staff washelpful and very nice too! We'll definitely be back! Read more
Absolutely overrated. The food was labeled as "Indian street food", most appropriate tagline would be "whitewashed Indian food".... The servers did not know the food and what went into it. I was hoping the servers can explain the food to the eaters. I will goback there, I drove 1hr to come to eat here. This place was a letdown for me. The food taste and flavor were mediocre. Advice tothe owners is to please stay authentic to the flavors. Read more
