Cajun Skillet Restaurant and Catering is THE place to go for Cajun food in Cedar Park, scratch that, in Central Texas! This is a... fantastic black-owned restaurant led by husband and wife team Steven and Shantrese. Shantrese is so sweet and remembers thenames of people eating in their restaurant. Steven, working two jobs, I don?t know how you do it where love still shows up onthe plate. I ordered the chicken sausage gumbo, mac and cheese, bread pudding, and a strawberry daiquiri. I heard from multiplepeople at the other tables tonight (from Louisiana) that it is truly the best gumbo from the streets of NOLA which the darkcolor of the stew. They were impressed and so was I! The food is excellent! Everything we had tasted fresh and of high quality. The crawfish etouffee was creamy and full of flavor.... Their Five Cheese Macaroni is the best! Last but not least, the blackened catfish was an art of its own. There are three tablesinside and about 3-6 outside. If you're dining in, call ahead to check the wait time. Wow. Finding the words to describe this place is tough. Vibe: Immaculate. Small indoor dining area with three tables, some... outdoor tables as well. People: Incredibly helpful and sweet. Very willing to explain menu and provide recs. Food: THIS IS THEBEST CAJUN OUTSIDE OF NEW ORLEANS. Seriously though, I've yet to find food of this caliber anywhere outside of NOLA, I had theirBayou Tacos and Mac and Cheese. Buddy had the catfish platter with Mac and cheese and Dirty Rice. I can?t say enough about Cajun Skillet! Their food is amazing so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The Hush puppies are... crispy and sweet with a touch of Pepperiness (yes, that?s a word) the chicken so tender and expertly season and oh my thejambalaya!!! Cajun Skillet catered our "pandemic wedding" in 2021 and I would wholeheartedly recommend them and give them a stellar 10 out of... 10 rating!!! This husband and wife (Steven and Shantrese) black-owned business, went above and beyond for me and I'm sograteful. Not only was communication precise and effortless but they were excellent in meeting all of my needs for my wedding. Iordered a variety of prepackaged meals for our wedding because, due to covid, I did not want buffet-style. The food arrivedon-time, hot, and delicious. The portions were perfect!!!! 4/5 Great Little foodie place in Cedar Park, just North of Austin on US 183/N Bell Blvd. I went for dinner on a Friday night... and it wasn't busy at all. I definitely recommend looking at the menu before coming inside as the TV menu lettering is quitesmall; I missed a couple of options I wish I had seen that night. I got the Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo for $11.00.The Gumbo was good but needed the crackers that came with it to tie it all together. The chicken and sausage came in goodportions and melted in your mouth. They were out of the beignets so I will definitely be back to try those! Good for familytake out or dine in as a couple or less. These folks don't play. Ordered Catfish Plate & Gumbo to go with two extra catfish filets. Everything was excellent. Gumbo was... made with a dark roux and it pays off in the depth of flavor. Outstanding quality! Catfish was fried just right and hush puppieswere also excellent, although a bit on the small side. Will definitely be going back to try more of their menu. Read more
