Randomly found this restaurant on Google. Turned out to be a great choice. Service was fast and accurate and our food was fresh... and flavorful. The polite gentleman that served us seemed to be the actual owner. He seemed genuinely attentive to my friend's(a Mexican restaurant connoisseur..not an understatement) constructive feedback about her first meal. My meal was probably oneof the best I have had. Furthermore, we appreciated that the salsa was served in a mini carafe with two separate personal salsabowls, fresh/crispy chips, and refilled without having to request. The atmosphere is clean, welcoming, and cozy. Several golfcarts parked in the front tells me that this place may be the regular watering hole. Refried beans? Wait what? This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Anywhere. Hands down. The service is good and the food is always great. Every time I... drive near Carmel, In. I stop and eat. They do have a gotcha, they will offer changes without mentioning they will up-charge.For instance, "no queso" earns a response "I can add shredded cheese." and the bill contains an unmentioned up-charge. Excellentfood, though. The building and bathrooms are clean and fixed - and that sometimes says a lot about a place. No one likesstepping on broken tiles and splashing in water from a broken sink like some Mexican restaurants. I was told my reviews will befunnier if beyatch is added at the end. I don't usually consider myself picky when it comes to food - especially food that I didn't have to make - but I wasn't... impressed by this restaurant. The ground beef in both my classic taco salad and my father's nachos supreme was pure mush, likethey'd taken ground beef and pureed it. I did not care for either the texture or the flavor and found myself trying to pickaround the beef in the salad (pointless, considering it was 50% meat). All 3 meals we ordered were extremely soggy as well,which made them less appetizing. We did love the chips and peppery salsa that came with our dinner, and we appreciated how hotand fresh the food was when we received it, but unfortunately I don't think it's enough for us to return and try other dishes.
