Ive stayed at dozens of relais et chateaux and have noted a consistent downward track Their restaurants remain top notch but the... rooms and amenities are pitiful Some of the staff is wonderful Others useless if not surly Its sad Skimpy breakfast menu andeven so they only had plain ice cold toast no wholecwheat even though it was the only other listed toast C’mon! Where wastheir famous kitchen when the breakfast orders went out? We used to know that a hotel that boasted the relais association was aguaranteed winner after our experience here we’ll never bother with a relais hotel again Too many excellent hotels to wastetime at these Read more

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy an intimate private dinner at aubergine. The experience far exceeded my expectations. ... Truly an exquisite dining experience thoughtfully prepared largely with local ingredients and paired with an incredible seriesof vintages with warm, welcoming and impeccable service. Not to mention the incredible mixology. I will absolutely bereturning to enjoy the experience again. Worth it. Read more

Hotel staff and service was very nice. Rooms are nice and quaint - the whole property is intimate and cozy. Coffee is... excellent! 3 instead of 5 stars because breakfast reservations despite being required were problematic (table not available atdesignated time, etc) and good but not special (scrambled eggs and toast). Could not accommodate us for dinner and dinner isserved at tables in the courtyard directly next to the rooms meaning that although we couldn’t have dinner we also could notsit in the courtyard either which meant we had to stay in our rooms or go somewhere else. A little odd. Read more

I find this to be an unfortunate review. My reasons for this review has less to do with the hotel itself but rather the... absolutely awful and despicable management - Monica Munoz - related to a year long issue and promise. Back in the summer of2021, my wife and I stayed at L’Auberge Carmel - a hotel we’ve stayed at several times throughout the years. This particularstay was riddled with issues ranging from broken phones to being given the incorrect room to horrible construction that wasnever disclosed upon our reservation. The issues took several days to correct - but despite having reserved and paid for aspecific room - we were never moved nor were we given any kind of refund for the difference in price. The phone issues took twodays to fix despite several calls to management. Our stay was anything but relaxing and upon our check-out, we reached out tomanagement to express our frustrations asking for some kind of refund for all of our troubles. In an email string, L’Auberge(Monica Munoz) acknowledged the multiple failures during our stay and extended us a 50% discount for our next stay atL’Auberge. Not knowing exactly when or if we would get back to Carmel, we reluctantly agreed. Our emails (all of which we haveand can provide) with Monica Munoz - was quite unbecoming of L’Auberge Carmel. She was rude and quite honestly seemed annoyedto have to “deal” with the situation to begin with. By the end of our email string - it approached combative. Fast forwardto summer of 2022 - my wife and I found ourselves with the opportunity to get away and decided to use the 50% offer. 4-6 weeksprior to our travels, I called to make sure they would honor the offer extended to us from the year prior (not knowing if Ms.Munoz was still employed at L’Auberge). I spoke to a lovely woman - Brianna - who checked on the issue and confirmed that theoffer would be honored. When we finally figured it all out, I called L’Auberge to book the room. Spoke to Brianna again whoinformed Read more

We had a wonderful stay here to celebrate our anniversary. Staff was kind and helpful. The breakfast in our room each morning... was awesome and so well done. We were escaping from our kids so it was nice to have a very relaxing place to stay where wecould just take it easy. It's walkable to all the shops in Carmel and to the beach, very convenient! So charming and thecourtyard is so quaint. We didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant, but it looked awesome. Would absolutely stay again! Read more

Quaint, charming and old school chateau style boutique hotel (20 or so rooms) with prime location a block from town shops and... restaurants. The hotel staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming without being overbearing, and there's valet parkingwhich is extremely convenient after a long drive. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, heated floors in the bathroom. Hotel has abeautiful courtyard perfect for a lazy breakfast, definitely get the breakfast there it's delicious, or a late night pinot noir.I've stayed numerous times over the years, my favorite hotel in Carmel by far. One of the best Michelin experiences we have had. We had one vegan and one vegetarian experience and L'Auberge did not... disappoint (and we have been disappointed at other well-known Michelin star restaurants). There was diversity with each plateand our pallettes were alive all evening; a true experience. Be sure to get a wine pairing! We will be back! Merci L'AubergeCarmel! Read more

Charming 20 room property in downtown highly walkable Carmel. Very service oriented boutique property that feels like you have a... guest room in a french chateau. Comes with breakfast in a charming outdoor courtyard (weather permitting) or indoor. Ryan thevalet and bell hop was really sweet. L'aubergine is a Michelin 1 star restaurant on property if you are open to spending $200plus per person for tasting menu. Note need to book dinner weeks if not months in advance. Enjoyable albeit expensive propertyin a great location. Read more
