Burgeon is a fantastic place in to get some tasty beer in the Carlsbad area. They have a great variety of beers but their IPAs... are something special. Great atmosphere too, I really like their integration of tree/wood motif into the popular industriallook. Love this place! They have a nice beer selection, great tasting beer, and a comforting environment filled with a nice array of... plants. And, speaking of plants, they help with the planting of TREES in our National Forests, how awesome is that! Inaddition, they also allow pets, albeit they have to be on a leash. But hey, that's kinda the norm for a pet-friendly placeright. Oh, and they have a nice custom made shuffle board maybe made out of driftwood?? Lastly, the place isn't too big. Partybusses of 20 or more are asked to call ahead. They have 2 long, tables that can seat about 10 each, about 3 bar height concretetables with seating for about 6 each, about 4 standing height tables without seats, some wood bench seats, and plenty of seatingaround the bar. This place is very close to McClellan-Palomar Airport, so if you're waiting to take-off, grab a quick ride overand have yourselves a drink or two. -Cheers! Read more
Walking in, before even getting a chance to appreciate the beer, Burgeon?s decorations are awesome. Its character provides a... tranquil and relaxing feeling that will nicely accompany any beer. With 16 beers on tap, including west coast IPA?s, imperialstouts, and the rare style find grusette, Burgeon boasts a solid varietal range to appeal to the adept San Dieagan drinkingpublic. We tried Sapling, Moo Moo Farm, Thuja, Locally Rooted, Everybody?s Juicin, Noble Miner, and Treevana. The Noble Miner(grusette) was described as a low alcohol by volume saison. The low alcohol content lent this beer a really refreshing,drinkable mouthfeel with just a hint of that farmhouse flavor that?s familiar in your usual saison. I loved the balance inSapling (rye amber), you could taste the hops and the malts but one never overpowered the other. There was a bounty of flavorin the IPA?s, as tropical fruit aromas and flavors jumped out of the glass of Thuja (IPA) and Everybody?s Juicin? (hazy IPA). The Moo Moo Farm (milk stout) had a smoky aftertaste, which was surprising for a milk stout. Those that expect the subtledecadent sweetness of a milk stout could find its dominantly roasty flavor unexpected, but I really enjoyed it. Read more
Great beer selection, amazing ambiance of the place and super friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more from a brewery in Carlsbad!... Definitely tucked away in a business park but well worth the visit. Will be coming back for sure Read more
