Dishonorable local business. I bought a $20 gift card years ago and they would not honor it on count of getting ?new computers?.... It was lost for some time but I was never told of an expiration date upon purchase. Do not waste your money buying gift cardshere this holiday especially if you get roped into a promotion. It?s likely just another fly by night scam. I did ask for themanager and they just chuckled and said no one can help me. They suggested I just throw it away. two weeks ago i trained their to work for a week and never got payed for it because David said my i 9 form was wrong three times... so i fixed it never got paid so i didn't go back. I thought it was strange that david during the interview he said drinking andsmoking weed was ok as long as you share thought that was strange. but after hearing the cooks phone call for selling i get it. What a disappointment !! We used to go there regularly pre-COVID and were always pleased with the employees, service, and most... of all the food. Even during COVID, I picked up carry out orders many times. My family recently went back after a period ofmany months and was shocked. It smelled like dirty restrooms when we first entered - even way up at the front of therestaurant. The menu has changed, and you can no longer get the rotisserie 1/2 chicken. I got a very small lump of shreddedchicken meat in a broth, and it didn?t really have any taste. The chicken tender meals were a couple of small dry tenders. Thearea at the smokers that you can see through the dirty glass at the rear of the business displayed trash on the floor, some kindof oil dry, and grease all over. It never looked like that in the past. As another reviewer pointed out, the employees weremore interested in looking at the their cell phones and talking rather than servicing the customers. I?ll use up my bonuspoints for some free food, then I won?t go back. With other BBQ restaurants in the area, they better really step up their gameor they won?t be in business. What a shame ?? I used to absolutely LOVE this place pre 2020, but sadly, no more. After my last visit, I?m sorry to say that it will be my... final one. In the past, their food has always been delicious, fresh, and hot; their employees were always ?above and beyond?welcoming, accommodating, and friendly; and the environment was always clean and well kept. These qualities are a thing of thepast, never to return, I fear. Once during 2020 an employee was rudely and sternly chastising me and another customer to keepour masks pulled up (but not until after they received my money.????) while one of their kitchen employees was LITERALLYcrouching in the kitchen doorway on his phone, without a mask. Looked REAL sanitary. They seemed super concerned about what Iwas doing, yet they weren?t concerned about what their own employees were doing. Weird.???? The person who took my orderrecently could not have been less interested. It took almost 20 minutes to receive my order and there were only 2 people aheadof me and 4 customers in the whole place. I noticed that after I received my order, the two people that were in front of me werestill waiting on their to go order. My food was almost $20 with the tip. The condiments bar and drink station were FILTHY,sticky, empty, and swarming with gnats. The quality of the food has gone downhill. My pulled pork was dry and the portions weresmaller than on previous visits. The dining room needed attention, as well. The only positive thing I can add is that the musicwas really good on my most recent visit. I think it?s safe to say that I will never return to Old Carolina, which kind of makesme sad. This used to be a top notch restaurant, but no more. I see by the reviews on here that many others are in agreement. This is a sad day as I will never return ever again which puts me at fewer restaurants I can eat at due to my allergies. I order... the same thing multiple times a week, the normal staff I see is utterly amazing they know my order by heart, or if I stop inthey don?t even have to ask what I want they just start cooking it. They are amazing the staff I saw today hard pass, they wereso unbelievably rude. Not only did the lady scoop out a handful of my fries to a napkin that she started eating ( yes right infront of me ) when I asked for the bbq sauce she told me I can fill it myself. When I noticed there wasn?t enough cranberry?s onmy salad I asked for more in just a cup that I could add on and was told I?m not helping food cost. ( and how that should beextra ) mind you that?s fine if I have to pay more for the salad that I ORDERED that way then it should have been done.Absolutely disgusted with this store and then when I get home realized they put blue cheese dressing for my salad and I orderedItalian. NEVER and I mean NEVER will I come back. You should learn who to promote and who not to I will happily tell you who youshould ! Also the new GM that they are so willing to bad mouth saying that this is what they are instructed to do. I would normally give them a 5 star review! I love their food, have had it many times!! However, this past time I went there, I... ordered the pulled pork, garlic mash potatoes, and coleslaw, also comes with a biscuit. Everything was good love the garlic mashpotatoes, but the pulled pork was not as good as usual, pretty disappointed, Not much shredded pork, sort of dry and had veryhard pieces in it. My friend had the brisket with fries, and you get a lot of fries, that were good and hot, very fresh. Butagain, that was the first time I was disappointed in the pork! I love there food and have even bought there bbq sauce! My sonhad his reception catered by them, they did a wonderful job, the food was DELICIOUS! Maybe it was just an off day!! There isinside and outside seating. The employees are always friendly and polite!
