Just stumbled across this place randomly looking for something a bit different. Ordered some fish and chips and a few samosas... and was blown away with how good this was. The fish and chips alone was incredible. Huge piece of fish and the fries were so sotasty. The veggie samosas with the tomato and mango sauces completely hit the spot. This place feels like one that the locals gobut is overlooked by tourists like me. One of my favorite spots I've eaten at. Read more
It?s a unique little café. They offer fresh Indian food and some creative Indian-Western fusion items. The drinks we had were... both delicious. We appreciate it being a quick grab place without long waits. Read more
We had such a lovely experience at this cafe. The food was amazing and the price was great too, the atmosphere is really nice as... we sat in. The poppadoms were great and the butter chicken was amazing, I was pretty sad when I had finished it. They also offernaan-sandwiches for those who aren?t too fond of rice, which were really tasty, we are excited to come back. Thanks for havingus! Read more
I really liked it! Cute place to grab a quick bite. Front area sells spices, frozen prepped food and other kits for making some... of their yummy dishes at home. Indian butter chicken with jasmine rice was delicious! Spicy the way I like it! Maybe too spicyfor average? (Usually I find the butter chicken not spicy at all and more sweet in most other places that have served it.)Coffee wasn't bad. Dark roast not quite as dark as I prefer it but still very nice. A few small seating spots. I like thespacing, it feels quite pleasant and comfortable. I'd recommend taking out your order, if you are a group of 5 or more people.Price point reference: we paid $40 (before tip) for 2 platters (1 with single curry, 1 with 2 curries and rice) + garlic naanfor both and 2 x 16 oz coffees. Mad Dog Cafe is a casual fast food restaurant serving East Indian cuisine, including a variety of curries, snacks, desserts and... drinks. They also have a market area where you can purchase different Indian sauces and products and frozen/prepared meals. Iate here twice during my visit to Canmore as my hostel was right next door. Tried the chickpea fries with curried ketchup andthe Alu Chole curry (vegan, potato and chickpea) with basmati rice and a mango lassi. Everything tasted incredible! I loved thespices and flavours. The restaurant has counter service only and you can dine in or take out. The seating area was nice and hadviews of the mountains out the windows. Service was very friendly and they even gave me a sample of the curry before ordering tomake sure I liked it! I will absolutely be back here again! Read more
Went for a quick snack. Had beef vindaloo samosa and regular beef samosas. Ordered a hot chocolate as well. Food was tasty and... good portion size. One fewer star for the price. I understand being it in Canmore and all. But the price is a tad expensiveoverall. The view from the cafe is great. They don't have coffee. But you can have tea. Edit: they have pour over coffee. Wentthere for the second time for some pakora and samosa. the new chef was kind enough to come to us and talk about the food. Thepakora was near perfect. Right amount of flavour, seasoning and spices. The samosas could have used a bit of more seasoningthough. Read more
