Reviews for Ol' Farmer in Cana, VA
Great food and great service how ever thoughts on dress of some servers should be addressed by owners too much skin show .... Would be nice to see a dress code for the servers such as black pants white shirt so they are not showing too much ofthemselves . Read more
The food was good but not a large selection. Didn't care for the cafeteria style for a buffet. Service was very very slow.
Buffet, cafeteria type of place. Nice enough place, friendly staff , sweet ice tea was ok. The chicken was tender and good, the... taste was so so. Smashed potato was ok. The gravy was kind of bland, needed more salt and pepper, roux needed a bit longer cooktime. Corn was ok. Biscuit was large fluffy tender, but lacking in taste department Now the not so good, green beans kind oftasted like they were cooked in dishwasher water. Edible yes, overall a little bit over priced for what it is. Read more
Great place with actual home cooking! This place makes pretty much everything from scratch! Amazing chicken and dumplings! The... biscuits are like softball sizes too! Read more
Met family from NC and had an early lunch from their cafeteria style buffet and will have to say the items I chose were... excellent! Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked that day. The employees were all very pleasant and friendly. Will stopthere again when we have the opportunity. Read more
Atmosphere is great. Staff is above and beyond friendly. Restaurant is clean. In the past the food has been delicious.Upfront... prices are good. A few months ago, we were in and got what used to be fried chicken off of the buffet. Oven baked chicken isNOT the same as fried chicken and anything that says the chicken is fried, should be removed. Or maybe the oven baked chickenshould be removed and the fried chicken added back. The oven baked chicken was incredibly dry and lacked flavor. It was not whatwe had been accustomed to coming to this restaurant for years when visiting the area. Our last visit in, I ordered chicken offof the menu. If you have had any experience eating ?real? chicken in your life, do not order the grilled chicken off of themenu. My dad asked what it was upon delivery?I said, chicken? It was a completely processed glob of plastic resembling a chickenbreast. It was awful. We have loved coming to this restaurant for many years and considered it a treat. It has changed handsand I am afraid to say the quality of the food served has changed from what we had been accustomed to. When we inquired aboutthe change with the buffet chicken, we were told the recipe changed when the ownership changed?about a year and a half ago. Twodays after we ate there, my husband noticed an additional fee charged to his card. When he called and inquired, he was told itwas a processing fee and was the amount they are charged. In most businesses, this fee is added in to the prices of items. Paywith cash and stay away from the chicken. Read more
First time eating here. We read the reviews and figured we'd check it out. Thankful we did. We all loved everything. The buffet... was full with a lot of choices...the fat back....well that was a little slice of Heaven...comfort food. The desserts would putsome pounds on but yummy ????. The staff were friendly and down to earth. They interacted with our two year old and that wasalso very important to us. Just a little country restaurant with a big personality. Read more
