Went to Shakey Graves last night, and had some drinks at the Den right before. The staff were lovely- specifically Carter the... bartender & Chris the manager. They were happy to make us fancy drinks and even though they were busy still took the time tochat with us about our time in Calgary. Nice place on campus to catch a meal - the prices are reasonable and they have some tasty items! I deducted 1 star because they... are hard to reach! When my colleagues and I reserved a table, we simply filled out their online form and did not receiveconfirmation of the booking. We showed up and they said there "was a reservation for 6 at this time" so they didn't even haveour name/details although the reservation seemed to have gone through. I also left my takeout box here after they closed theirdoors and we could see the staff inside, but no one came to the door even when we knocked, phoned, etc. It's a convenient placefor a sit-down restaurant on campus otherwise. Great atmosphere food and drink for some require reasonable prices. Cheeseburger was juicy, and came with some great seasoned... fries. Mini donuts where tasty, and what you'd expect from mini donuts, and the drinks were nice and fruity, but a littlelacking in oompth from the alcohol. I have come here with friends on atleast 4 additional occasions, and from those experiencesI can say that I can confidently bump my review up to 5 stars. The cocktails and drink selection, staff are very polite andaccomodating (even when our reservation required much more seats than we expected) and as such, I would very much recommend theDen! Downside: Their specials only run during university semesters. I go here almost every week for wing night because I am a... terrible person. The suicide wings (pictured) are EXTREMELY spicy. Like, I can eat the hottest peppers in the world and recoverwithin 30 minutes. These wings burn in my stomach for most of the night and into the morning. I wonder why I do this to myself.Every single time I tell myself no more. And then I go and do it again because my mouth longs for the burn and my butt has longforgotten it. Read more
