Wanted to try a new place for Chinese food so got 6 items from menu with a buddy. Overall the items were lacking quality,... flavors were mediocre (particularly for thin noodles in chow mein) and ginger beef seemed like it was nearly all breading withvery little beef. I was pretty surprised by this as it had good ratings but it appears the location is under new management. Itsa bit of a shame... I hope they can improve the quality for other customers. Read more

I ordered today for the first time via Skip the dishes. I ordered dinner for two(which comprises spring rolls, chicken fried... rice, stir fry vegetables,ginger beef, sweet n sour chicken) and special fried rice. The rice was good; I didn't really like thespring rolls and stir fry vegetables but the ginger beef and sweet n sour chicken were absolutely delicious. Stopped by last week. The woman manning the phone and pick up was a lovely breath of fresh air. Cheerful, helpful and... pleasant. The Ginger beef was some of the lightest and tastiest I've had in Calgary yet. S & S pork was alright - I'm not a bigfan of fatty pork - so this was a no go for me, but the rest of the family enjoyed. The chicken and mixed veg was full andfresh. The spicing and dryness of shanghai noodles weren't my favorite - but still a good value - loaded with shrimp and snappeas. All in all, I'll probably give Sun Island a try again when I'm in the neighbourhood. Read more

Tried it for the first time and it was great!We ordered through the phone, the lady working is very nice and we got to the... restaurant 20min later and the food is ready! No MSG or a lot of salt in their food so you don't feel thirsty after, theportions are generous and everything was delicious! The spicy label can be deceiving as even slightly spicy dishes are markedwith a pepper. Would definitely try again! Read more

Food is AMAZING. Came here all the time during school, and keep coming back. Staff are all incredible and kind. Both eat in and... take out are 10/10. Best Chinese food restaurant in Calgary hands down. Servings are large, so I recommend coming in a group andeach ordering a plate of something to share. Read more

Went for lunch here for the first time in years and the new owner is so nice and friendly. The food is fantastic, portion sizes... are very well priced I bought one $13 dish and have enough leftovers for dinner tonight. Will definitely keep coming here moreoften! Read more
