Reviews for Kim's Katsu in Calgary, AB
Suggested from a friend so I tried this with them a couple days back. Your money will be well spent here! Highly recommend the... King?s Katsu as you all know me, I need a big meal to satisfy my craving. If you can eat a huge amount, order the King?s Katsu. It is good for 2 people but you definitely don?t want to share this because it is very good! Customer service is nice andfriendly. The store atmosphere brings good vibes so come here with a friend to enjoy your time. Parking is a BIG ISSUE!Kensington is known for this issue since this is a very popular street for food. You would be lucky to find parking in front ofthe store. Alternative parking would be around Safeway or behind the C train station. Getting a table is not a problem but notsure on busy hours. Overall, visit this place when you get a chance. You won?t regret it! Read more
A really nice little restaurant ?? all Katsu dishes (breaded and fried) lots of options besides the standard pork Katsu. I got... the assorted plate. The breading is crispy and the meat is soft so it's a really pleasant texture combination. Nothing wasgreasy, it came with some side salads and a miso soup. It's a fun experience to grind your sesame and the sauce is really abovethe standard bull dog sauce you get at the shop. The cheese Katsu was a fun try but it's a lot of cheese! There is limitedseating (about 6 tables) so if it's busy then it'll be a wait but it's worth it! Read more
Juicy katsu, tasty udon, try the cheese katsu; simply amazing. ??? We had the assorted katsu, tempura udon, katsu don, curry... katsu, and yuzu salad katsu. All of the katsu was nicely done; a light crispy breading with tender meat on the inside. I reallyliked the pork tenderloin katsu, and everyone loved the cheese katsu. The udon was pretty tasty. The yuzu salad and side saladthat came with the katsu were both amazing; fresh and light. Overall really good katsu and decently sized portions for a veryreasonable price. Read more
This place has been consistent in preparing variations of the popular TonKatsu dish. Personally, I prefer the takeout option for... the coziness of eating at home or the speediness of eating in the car. Great quality / price. Read more
Their Hire Katsu (Pork Tenderloin) is the best! Super tender, tasty and the breading had the right amount of crisp but not too... greasy. It comes with a side of salad, miso soup and pickled ginger. My wife got the Katsu Curry and I?d say they have one ofthe best tasting curry sauce in the city! I like it cause there?s no big chunks of carrots and potatoes in it, and they justfocused on delivering great taste to the sauce. It also comes with an egg over rice. The Katsu in their Katsu Curry wasn?t thattender as the Hire Katsu. But I think it compliments the curry sauce as it will make the Katsu more soggy and tasty. They onlyhave a few tables inside so plan ahead and come early on rush hour or weekends. Read more
I?ve been here sooo many times. I?ve taken multiple friends here and it never disappoints!! ??. ?.?? The cheese katsu is... usually my go to here, but recently I got the assorted set and it might be my new favourite- perfect if you?re indecisive likeme haha. The batter is light and crispy, (I heard they make their own bread crumbs here too) not too oily and I think thevariety of pickles they give you with your meal is very nice! ?(?????)? ? Read more
Excellent spot for some crispy and fresh katsu. Great menu items, and I was totally surprised by the portion size of the kings... katsu, it was massive! The Japanese curry hit the spot. The meal also came with sweet corn soup, and it was definitely needed onthe cold day. I will be back to try the other katsu places, prices were great. Service was helpful and welcoming. Read more
