If I could give this place a six, I would. I was impressed with everything from how good the service was when we walked through... the door, to how good the food was. The soup was the best part, the steak a la Hy and beef wellington was absolutely beautiful.Also I 100% suggest the Carribean Sunrise if you drink! It's a new favourite. Read more

Overall, very good experience at Hy’s. The cheese bread was as amazing as the server expressed. And the appetizers and drinks... were great. The only reason I don’t do 5 stars is because of how disappointing the beef Wellington was. The beef itself wascooked beautifully, however the pastry was very under done and you can tell easily from the photos. The Wellington was swimmingin a sickly sweet sauce, which only did more of a disservice to the already soggy pastry. Based on the reviews, this dish seemsreally hit or miss. Came here for my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The oysters were shucked... clean and tasted fresh. We shared a porterhouse and a couple of side dishes and it was enough to make us full. Like mostreviews, their cheese toast is a must. Our server, Tony, was very attentive albeit he missed my order of mushrooms. Overall theexperience was great. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Will definitely come back. We visited HY's for our Valentine's day dinner. Being a popular steak house in the heart of Calgary, it was a busy night. We can... feel staffing is stretch a bit thin with the serving time, and attentiveness. Their Cheese toast for two is rich, aromatic, andflavorful.
