50s style café restaurants that serve good old-fashioned comfort food are a dying breed. I am pleased to report that Cadence is... the flag-bearer for this style of restaurant. I had never been here until quite recently. When I entered, I found a largedining area with a walk-up counter in the middle to place my order. The staff that man the counter are quite friendly andknowledgeable about their products. They guide you through the ordering process so smoothly. The Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwichwas HUMONGOUS! With so many ways to customize it to your liking it is delicious too! I looked at it at first and wondered how Iwas going to be able to bite it! That is a refreshing change from other establishments whereby I wonder how I am going to fillmyself up! The Cafe Mocha was amazing too. I loved the whipped cream topping. It makes for a lovely treat. Stopped in for coffee after a walk in Bowmont Park. A nice location with good coffee and a great Nanaimo bar. Service was quick... and friendly. The decor is lively, with a bit of a diner feel. Will have to come back and try something from the full menu. Irecommend. Read more

Well Cadence is for the most part good food ...and it's a little funky artsy place ..and today Sunday there were two out of the... three team members as in one front line person and one back of the house person that should not be in the service industry. Oneperson she worked the cash today!always never smiles or looks like she is passed off when your there...and when I said somethingto her she simply walked away and got the only one who was nice to finish serving me....so heads up when I am paying a good buckfor breakfast there that really is nothing special...the very least the service staff can do is fake a smile and say yourwelcome when a customer says thank you ....simply common curiosity.
