Buon Giorno Ristorante Italiano looked empty from outside until we went into the foyer. It was hopping! The music, atmosphere,... aromas and of course the decor was a teleport in time back to traditional Italy! We were quickly served and given hot buns andbutter. We settled on Linguine Pescatore (Penne instead) and Risotto Fruitte Di Mare - which was pasta with seafood and ricewith seafood. The Risotto was too big to eat so 1/2 went home for lunch;) What can I say about the food! Mamma mia è italiano(Mama Mia thats Italian). It sure brings me back to my Sicilian roots. Our handsome waiter was VERY diligent on constantlyfilling our water glasses and kudos to him as he held down about 8 tables simultaneously. Unfortunately, we dug into the foodtoo quickly for a picture, however, I included many of the decor (as I asked permission to film and the management was graciousenough to comply as long as no people were in the pictures.) Parking is plentiful on 17th Avenue depending when you arrive. There is also some paid parking in the back corner of 8th street. Buon Giorno Ristorante Italiano was one of the best culinaryexperiences I have had in a very long time. My only issue was that the food took a bit long to arrive, however, it was verybusy, we were given plenty of rolls and it allowed for more conversation. I am upgrading my 4 star review to 5 stars. Let's hopeit will always be a top notch experience:) Buon appetito! Read more

Came here for a friend's birthday, we were a large group and appreciated that we could be accommodated. They were unable to do... separate bills, so that caused a bit of extra work to sort things out. Service was great for our party size, which is why I'mgiving 3 stars. The food was unfortunately bland. I had the Fettuccine Tetrazzini and found the chicken was dry, the sauce washeavy on the cream side but lacking real flavor, and some of the noodles were overdone. Some fresh pepper, salt and parmasan(asked for it after tasting the meal) helped a bit but overall this wasn't a memorable meal. Other diners at our table hadpesto, and they had better things to say about their dishes. For $27.95, it was over priced for the value I received. Overall, this is an alright place to go but there are other Italian restaurants I prefer in Calgary. Read more

Definately not the best Italian food I had in Calgary. The lamb tortellini was nice. The scallop pasta was overcooked the... seafood risotto was ok, not the best I had The Portofino scallopini wrapped shrimp was very good. The chocolate ice creamdessert was amazing. The tiramisu, creme brulee, and creme caramel were fine but didn't wow me. To be fair I'm a chocolateperson. Read more

Very good! Sat on the patio and had a lovely date night while watching the world go by in 17th ave. Our server, Jeremy, was... attentive while still having a chill relaxed energy, he was great. The food was very tasty and flavourful and came in largeportions. Loved it here, will be back. Read more

Really great place. Been around 40 years! Classic Italian without the pretentiousness of some other places. Solid food that came... out very hot and fresh. Took my Mom here for her birthday and she loved it. Appetizers, dinner for 5, 1 litre of house wine, dessert and a good tip for $260. Read more

Wonderful menu options. Fresh bread was wonderful. Staff is super professional. Prices a bit high for pasta but not overly so.... Portions were good. My pasta could have used more mushrooms.Coffee was amazing. Highly recommended after the meal. Chocolates ormints should have been included at cheque presentation. Read more

Located on busy 17 ave sw for decades. It is cozy and warm inside. A bit dim in places and some of the interior could use some... renovation but it's still quaint and quite a few tables. The indoor fireplace is inviting as well. Our food was very good andthe menu quite extensive and true to its Italian roots. Our server was very helpful, courteous and polite. The wait for food wasnot super long either. We dined with appetizers and main menu items which were tasty. Reservations were made and probablyrecommended. Overall a good experience and we will be back again. Read more
