Reviews for Caldwell Diner in Caldwell, NJ
The worst part about going to the Original Pancake House (OPH) on a weekend is the 30+ min wait if you arrive after 10:30AM. In... search of an alternative, I headed to the Caldwell Diner and was not disappointed at all. Spacious parking lot, clean dineranesthetic, great value, and attentive service. My order of an Irish Benedict exceeded my expectations, partially because I'maccustomed to overly salty tasting hash. However, the fragrance of the herbs and spices atop the meatiness of the hash wasmainstage. Granted this isn't the OPH, the pancakes were good too: fluffy, buttery, and light albeit missing the distinct tangof OPH's starter. People usually develop diner loyalty; I'm glad I tried something new and will come back for more. Read more
The customer service was great. I came in with a 1yr old and 4 yr old. They assisted as soon as we walked through the door. The... food is great. There were kids cups with water before we got to the table we were picking out. I'm like, how'd they know? Theseguys are kicking butt in the customer service area and attention to detail. They need to open up a husband trainingfacility. The food was fresh and handmade. We ordered a fruit bowl for the kids and it was ripe and fresh also. The Frenchtoast was amazing. Bacon wasn't oily and cheap, high quality. Overall, great job. I will make sure to stop by when we visit forvacation. Read more

I woke up in the mood for pancakes, and we recently moved in down the street from this diner, so we decided to try it out. I got... two eggs sunny side up with bacon and my boyfriend and I shared a side of buttermilk pancakes. Everything was awesome. The ?homefries? are deliciously seasoned potatoes with onions, and I couldn?t stop eating them. The pancakes were HEAVEN. Our server wasextremely attentive, and the atmosphere was nice and busy. Highly recommend. Read more
Istg, they have the best cheesecake in New Jersey. I have had their cheesecake multiple times and their consistency never... changes. Penelope is the best person and all the staff always greet you with smiles. Love this place! Read more
Clean well cared place, the server is really nice and efficient .food was good, big portions.
They really have the best French toast I?ve had - the bread is thick but still coated well and just crispy enough to give you... the CRONCH at the edges. Their food all around is delicious and the staff is great and remembered me after going only once -highly recommend! Read more
It's fine. Honestly. The food is okay. Me and fiancee woke up in the mood for pancakes. First option was packed and our... alternative was IHOP (our standards really weren't too high this morning) but in loo of a chain joint, we remember this cutelooking diner we've been passing up so far. Typical diner atmosphere, it's a bit narrow so maybe a little noiser than otherplaces but that's part of the charm for most diners. Here's what started to spoil the mood though. The up-charges. $3 bucksextra for REAL maple syrup, $2 extra for just whipped cream (NOT additional) even the side of corn beef hash was almost theprice of a breakfast entree. So we're thinking that it's gotta at least be a decent amount. Que a single pattie of meat smallerthen the pancakes. They even skimp on brand name coke. Why am I paying 3+ for RC cola? It was nothing special, got served plainpancakes (no butter offered, was afraid to ask) but at least there was Aunt Jemima's on the table. So 3 stars for basic okayfood, negative 1 star for ridiculous pricing. Kinda wish we went to IHOP instead :/ Read more
